Who you are

  • Possess 8+ years of experience in Channel Sales Management or a related role, demonstrating a deep understanding of the industry and proven success in driving sales strategies

What the job involves

  • As a Partner Development Manager for Zoom, you'll lead partner and Zoom sales teams to drive channel sales
  • You'll identify, empower, and foster channel ecosystems
  • We’re problem-solvers and self-starters, working at a fast pace to design solutions with our customers and users in mind
  • Here, you’ll work across teams to dig deep into impactful projects that are changing the way people communicate
  • Create and drive business plans with our Development Partners to identify and qualify mutually rewarding sales activities, strategies, and business opportunities
  • Individual coaching, mentoring and skill development of Development Partner team
  • Create sales and marketing campaigns to drive lead generation for Regional Partners
  • Provide day-to-day support for Regional Partners to help them sell, implement and support Zoom’s services
  • Answer questions via Zoom meetings, email, webinar and phone
  • Work with internal and Distributor / TSDs cross-functional teams to assist with partner implementation, support and commission escalations
  • Understand partner’s business and how Zoom services can enhance their value proposition
  • Coordinate training, marketing, and overall enablement programs with new distribution and master agents
  • Work cross functionally with other team members to deliver on company goals
  • Drive requirements and help develop sales tools and materials for Partners
  • Serve as internal channel advocate to ensure partner and customer satisfaction
  • Participation in industry events such as trade shows and seminars
  • Exceed revenue objectives
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Our take

Zoom reworked video conferencing when most people assumed it was a solved problem, with services from Cisco and Skype already ubiquitous in workplaces and homes. However, its videoconferencing infrastructure was simpler to use, faster and more flexible than any previous solution, and it swiftly took the world by storm.

Its success bred competition, however, and companies such as Microsoft and Google, along with numerous smaller communications firms, have begun making inroads on Zoom's formerly commanding lead. Additionally, as workplaces are mostly adopting a hybrid or flexible working strategy, some of its importance as a workplace tool is wearing off and it is recording a gradual decline in daily usage rates.

To counter these trends, Zoom is expanding its business offerings through product development and strategic aquisitions, such as that of Solvvy (an AI and automation service) in 2022. It remains to be seen if this will be enough to turn things around for Zoom: along with many other large tech companies it has recently engaged in large-scale layoffs to realign itself with a difficult economic situation. Still, it is a profitable company and a household name, and its track record of innovation means it is still very much one to watch in the communications space.
