Otta's take

CTO of Otta

The wholesale food industry in the US is huge, but it remains riddled with inefficiencies, resulting in huge quantities of food and resources being wasted every year. Silo sets out to solve this problem, with AI-powered supply and demand software and industry-tailored financing.

Silo's software platform features tools that forecast supply and demand, automate operations, and manage farm-to-wholesaler relationships, all presented through easy-to-access, cloud-based software. It also supplies cost effective and discreet access to working capital that is made to be built-in to the existing operations of produce businesses.

With its unique approach to optimizing the produce food chain (other efforts tend to focus on more efficient farming techniques), Silo stands out as a strong contributor to reducing food waste that operates from its own angle. Recent funding will be used to expand its capital program, on the financing side of the business, in order to offer specialised lending experiences to produce distributors and shippers of a variety of sizes.
