Our take

Art Republic was launched back in 1999, one of the very first galleries to sell work online, and now houses hundreds of artists. It has since evolved to become an online destination for art, showcasing a diverse range of artists from Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin to talented newcomers.

Though the art market’s growth has slowed down, the Online Art Trade Report shows online sales have fared better than the market overall. Art Republic in particular has committed to making easier to buy art online, partnering with the likes of Klarna and Hitachi Capital to help spread the cost of one off purchases.

The brand was at the forefront of the graffiti and urban art movement and was an early mover when it came to testing the potential impact of the internet on the art world. The website has a legacy of success and looks to continue on this path. Through a recent rebrand that focuses on a playful and accessible approach, Art Republic now wants to catch the attention of mainstream audiences.
