Company mission

To create a new, fairer standard for parental leave by making sure parents of all genders get paid to spend time with their kids.

Role

Who you are

  • Empathy with different types of user - including but not limited to SME owners, HR managers, employees about to have children and employees who have just had children
  • Great visual and product design instincts and ability to execute using whatever tools you prefer (Figma, Canva, UXPin etc)
  • Ability to create both lo-fi and high-fi mockups and wireframes (and a corresponding ability to know which is right for which situation)
  • Ruthless focus on key strategic objectives while still maintaining usability and brand values
  • Quick iteration cycle time
  • An ideal candidate will have the ability to translate wireframes/mockups into HTML/CSS templates
  • Demonstrated success in a low-data early stage startup environment
  • 3-8 years’ experience in a product design, UX design or frontend engineering role
  • Experience working directly with marketing, commercial and executive teams to understand not just product but business rationale
  • An ideal candidate would have experience working on a product that is used and loved by 10,000+ consumers or SMEs
  • Experience working with products in a regulated context (financial services, insurance) is a plus as long as it has left you with a hunger to go fast rather than a love of waterfall

What the job involves

  • You will be responsible for researching, prioritising and designing the key customer journeys for the JustParent proposition
  • You will distil that into a detailed set of journeys and designs that reflect our brand values and aesthetics and support the transformation of those assets into a fully-functioning product that is impactful, easy-to-use and compliant
  • Balance between research and instinct to enable fast execution in a low-certainty environment (aka strong opinions, weakly held)

Otta's take

CEO of Otta

Support when starting a family is a major benefit that talent has come to expect when looking for the next step in their career. Employees have begun to recognise this and the number of postings offering enhanced parental leave for new parents has more than doubled year on year. However, this is beyond the financial means of SMEs who make up the majority of employers in the UK. JustParent offers a solution in a SaaS platform offering insurance-backed parental leave for their clients' employees.

While there are a number of SaaS startups focusing on employee benefits such as Fringe, Compt, Cherry and Origin, none have a direct focus on parental leave. Additionally as their platforms are not insurance based, this still leaves SMEs unable to afford the more expensive benefits. With a knock-on effect on workplace gender equality, employee wellbeing and overall retention for the majority of the workforce, there is a significant gap in the market that JustParent is well-positioned to fill.

JustParent is preparing to launch, offering access to its platform for early adopters. It is looking to onboard new talent to develop the product and expand its marketing reach. With a socially-aware solution to a major problem and an experienced and growing team, JustParent is well-poised to develop a significant business.

  • Our reason for existing is to drive diversity in the economy and eliminate the gender pay gap. As part of that we aim to build an open and inclusive culture internally.
  • We provide generous parental leave benefits (it would be a bit strange if we didn't) to employees of all genders who become parents.
  • We believe that different perspectives give strength to an organisation and welcome applicants from any background.
