Role
Who you are
- You have min. 5-7 years professional experience in roles with a strong focus on Accounting
- Bachelor- or Masters degree / MBA Accounting & Controlling
- You are a Certified Accountant in Germany (or want to become), with strong local / German GAAP and preferably also IFRS knowledge
- Proven operational finance capability; close & compliance experience
- Ability to simplify and communicate complex problems in a clear concise way for the business
- Demonstrate ability to successfully partner and influence with the different levels in the organization
- Excellent analytical skills
- Good knowledge of Excel, Power Point, Navision, SAP, Salesforce or similar consolidating/reporting tools
- Business fluent in German, strong English skills in writing and speaking
- There will be limited travel to Amsterdam and Barcelona
What the job involves
- As a Senior Accountant, you'll be at the heart of our dynamic Financial Accounting & Controlling team in Berlin-Charlottenburg and report to the local Head of Accounting/Controlling
- Our Financial Accounting & Controlling Team in Germany (5 people including this role) is responsible for a broad range of activities and works closely with local teams (FP&A, legal, HR), the Central Regional Accounting Team in Amsterdam, Central Functions in Barcelona and Shared Services in Romania and India. The entities in scope are Mobile.de, Kleinanzeigen.de and a small holding company
- Preparation of month-, quarter- and year end closes in line with IFRS and local German GAAP requirements
- Preparation of financial statement according to local German GAAP (HGB) (Note: this should be done in-house and not be externally prepared or supported)
- Reconciliation of VAT return and supporting the preparation of Tax returns
- Preparation of Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Managing external financial and tax audits and communications with German authorities and auditors
- Historical TB analysis of prior years, using databases (is a plus)
- Managing and securing of internal (Adevinta Policy) and external (local law) Compliance
- Monitoring of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
- Support our local business with tax, billing and accounting specific questions and support implementation of new processes
- Work closely with the central Finance systems and local billing teams to enable smooth operations for our local business
- Review and ensure proper asset management
- Optimise existing Accounting workflows and increase efficiencies by automation and implementation of process improvements
- Collaborate closely with different local and central Finance teams

This will further bolster Adevinta's position as a market leader under strong new ownerhsip.
