Role
Who you are
- Minimum 5 years of software development experience and leading sprints as Scrum Master
- Demonstrable expertise of agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, etc
- Deep understanding of the fundamentals of iterative and incremental development
- Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile procedures to predict the development teams’ needs
- Self-motivated, organized
- Git, TFS, Scrum
- Azure DevOps & CI/CD Pipelines
- Cloud technologies & micro services
- Experience in defining and developing high-volume, horizontally scalable web architectures
What the job involves
- Supporting the product owner in setting the right priorities and taking the optimal decisions for the product
- Facilitating the collaboration between the other developers
- Functional and technical understanding and analysis of user stories in close collaboration with different stakeholders so that business requirements are clearly understood
- Designing and developing software modules and business process logic
- Taking the total ownership regarding scope, content and quality
- Coaching and guiding of fellow developers
- Executing code reviews
- Facilitates daily stand-up, iteration planning, sprint review, and iteration retrospective
- Manage the engineering development projects and facilitates sprint releases
- Create or analyse business requirements documents and project timelines
- Guides team in time estimating practices and facilitates team estimates
- Drive team iteration execution, communicates with management and stakeholders
- Able to root cause analysis to help teams continuously improve their practices to ensure maximum productivity
- Leads team effort in relentless improvement, define and implement improvement stories to increase the velocity and quality of the program
- Implement and support principles, rules and processes
- Proactively identify and eliminate impediments and facilitate flow
- Maintain team data in project management software (i.e. Azure DevOps) to support estimates and execution
- Supports product owner(s) with intra-team dynamics with respect to priorities and scope

Our take
Bromcom has come some way since Founder Ali Guryen developed a wireless school attendance recording system in the early 1980s – then hailed as revolutionary. Nowadays, the company offers schools and multi-academy trusts (MATs) a range of cloud-based software solutions for attendance and assessment tracking, data management, finance, and budgeting.
While it would be presumptuous to label the company the leader in its field, its claim that 70% of the UK’s secondary schools use Bromcom for their cloud MIS is a serious indication of its position. Its landmark deal to supply its software to over 200 maintained schools in West Sussex is also testament to the company's scope.
The public sector – from which the majority of Bromcom’s customer base comes – has often been criticised for its slow digital transformation. However, the education sector has recently accelerated its migration to the cloud, which is good news for Bromcom which has been championing (and perhaps banking on) this move for a while.
