Who you are

  • Ability to effectively communicate with Product Managers and Engineers and provide practical, actionable, and value added recommendations
  • Problem solving attitude, with the ability to use regulation and best practice knowledge with data to drive business decisions
  • A natural owner, that drives and delivers project from inception to completion, timely and with attention to the details
  • Experience (or interest) in working in a fast-growing environment

  • Willingness to travel to occasionally travel to different office locations in Europe and US
  • Legally authorised to work in the UK
  • Experience in 3rd Party Payments or Correspondent Banking environment

What the job involves

  • Your mission is to enable our Wise Platform team to launch new products and partnerships globally, through a deep understanding of the financial crime risk and associated controls for their products
  • You, together with the Wise Platform team and Wise Financial Crime Product team, will be responsible for:
  • Leading and supporting a team of FinCrime SME's across global projects / product
  • Enhancing Team Size, Skills and Diversity through recruitment / hiring
  • Up-skilling team members coaching, mentoring and guiding them through bespoke wise career progression plan
  • Support the launch of new products and services by implementing financial crime requirements in a customer-oriented way while fully adhering to regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that controls scale with the product by developing ongoing review and monitoring processes. Keeping Wise and its customers compliant while mitigating the risk of financial crime
  • Develop smart and scalable ways to support new partnerships while managing associated financial crime risks
  • Advise Product and operational teams on how to interpret financial crime regulatory requirements or improve processes to avoid regulatory breaches and/or incidents
  • Represent Wise in external meetings with Banking Partners and Regulators, being able to clearly and effectively articulate Wise Platform offer

Wise started when the two founders realised they would be better off trading Estonian kroons for British pounds (and vice versa) between themselves rather than going through banks. That was back in 2011, and they've since grown Wise into one of Europe's most successful tech businesses, exchanging billions of currency every month.

Wise rapidly grew by solving a significant problem for customers, who lost too much money to banks when exchanging currency. They've attracted investment from some of the best investors in the world, from Andreesen Horowitz to Index Ventures and even Richard Branson.

The challenge for Wise will be maintaining their edge and brand power in a market that's becoming increasingly crowded with new entrants (like Revolut and Monzo) and incumbents (traditional banks) trying to catch up. To do so, the company is ramping up its digital and marketing strategies, as well as pushing for further development of its existing products.
