To democratize access to opportunity and ensure any student can build a great career no matter who they know, where they live or what school they attend.

Role

Who you are

  • We're looking for a driven and motivated Marketing Working Student to join our EMEA marketing team, as a remote worker in Germany
  • Language skills: Proficient in both English AND German or French, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Hands-on mentality: Flexible generalist and solution-oriented pragmatic that takes the initiative to get involved and can work independently
  • Adaptability: Capable of working effectively under pressure and meeting tight deadlines
  • Collaborative Team Player: Passionate about achieving shared goals through teamwork, with excellent communication skills to celebrate successes, clarify questions, and address challenges effectively with colleagues
  • Marketing experience: Enthusiastic about all things marketing and excited about the prospect of exposure to different marketing functions. Experience with marketing platforms such as Knak, Marketo and Sanity are a bonus!
  • If you're passionate about making a difference in the lives of European students and eager to be part of a dynamic, international company, this role at Handshake might be the perfect fit for you

What the job involves

  • At Handshake, we're on a mission to democratise access to opportunities for students and connect them with their dream careers
  • This is a unique opportunity to help us bring Handshake's vision to Europe and empower students to find their dream careers
  • As a key member of our European marketing team, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our message reaches our target audience of careers services in universities across the UK, France and Germany and get exposure to the many facets of marketing including: content, digital, product marketing and operations
  • Content creation and localization: Support in content creation (in both English and French or German) which can range from updating physical assets in Figma, writing social copy, blog posts and proofreading content from across the team. Translating a wide-range of different content types into either French or German to help us reach our target audiences across different regions
  • Marketing operations: You will get to know new marketing tools such as Knak and Marketo to build landing pages, emails and set-up webinars to help drive engagement with both prospects and partners across all three regions
  • Website maintenance: Helping to maintain and populate the regional corporate websites including reviewing resources, updating copy and assets when needed and support when setting up new pages: populating content, reviewing copy, QA testing
  • General marketing assistance: Working in a small streamlined team you will be required to support different members of the team on a range of projects (from events through to webinars and product launches) providing you with ample opportunities to gain exposure to all aspects of marketing

Our take

The three founders of Handshake established their company in an attempt to eliminate inequality and make the student hiring landscape fairer. The Handshake platform acts as a LinkedIn for college students, pairing students from every walk of life with more than 650K employers, including the entire Fortune 500, which includes Google and Nike.

The graduate recruitment platform is open to any student with a valid @.edu email address, with more than 12 million active users from thousands of colleges and universities. With a student-first philosophy, the company generates revenue from both universities and employers rather than students.

Valued at $3.5B, Handshake has gained traction in a competitive market, although it has strong competition from recruiting giants LinkedIn and Indeed. It stands out, however, by helping students build new relationships and skills, rather than simply making connections to people they already know.
