Who you are

  • We are looking for an exceptionally motivated, talented, and experienced Accessibility Principal Product Manager with strong customer obsession and a track record of driving organization change
  • This role requires a high degree of autonomy, drive, and the ability to problem solve
  • You will be well suited to this role if you are customer-focused, resourceful, team-oriented, and have an ability to work independently under time constraints
  • 8+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience with end to end product delivery
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
  • Experience technical product management

Desirable

  • Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements
  • Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

What the job involves

  • You will be responsible for driving existing and new accessibility initiatives for customers with disabilities, including inventing new ways for customers with disabilities to interact with our diverse set of devices and services offerings; and you will lead projects staffed both with our Device Accessibility engineering team, as well as those staffed by engineering partner teams within Devices & Services
  • You will work and influence internal and external stakeholders, manage cross functional programs, and be able to help prioritize amidst ambitious goals and timelines
  • Developing our multi-year accessibility strategy, for serving customers with disabilities with our devices & services
  • Reviewing product roadmaps across Devices & Services, and drafting proposals for how to best address accessibility in those roadmaps
  • Drafting and presenting specific proposals for new accessibility features to leadership
  • Working with user research to better understand user needs and desires, and how well particular designs and approaches are accepted by customers
  • Working with accessibility engineering and prototyping to explore accessible user interaction models
  • Working with QA to provide guidance on issue priority
  • You would be joining Amazon’s largest, and longest tenured, accessibility team

Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.

More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
