- 7+ years experience as a Global Payroll leader or similar leadership role, overseeing global payroll operations
- In-depth knowledge of global payroll practices, regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements across multiple countries and regions
- Strong understanding of statutory deductions, tax rates, social security requirements, and benefits regulations globally
- Extensive experience in managing relationships with global payroll service providers and vendors
- Proficiency in using payroll software or systems for end-to-end global payroll processing
- Excellent understanding of HRIS systems and their integration with payroll systems
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team
- Strong analytical skills to assess payroll data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
- Ability to navigate complex payroll landscapes, adapt to changing regulations, and manage risks
- Understanding of data protection regulations and confidentiality requirements in handling employee information
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment with a customer-centric mindset
- Relevant certifications in global payroll management or related fields are advantageous
- Certification or professional qualification in payroll such as the CIPP Diploma in Payroll Management or related field is advantageous
What the job involves
- Reporting to the Director of Finance in EMEA, the Associate Director- Global Payroll will lead and coordinate the Group’s global payroll requirements across our many jurisdictions
- You will play a key role in the business and will have responsibility for ensuring all payrolls are processed on time, accurately, and in accordance with contracts and local legislation
- Develop and execute the global payroll strategy, aligning with business objectives and compliance requirements
- Oversee end-to-end global payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing for multiple countries and regions
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with local payroll providers and vendors to ensure seamless payroll delivery
- Ensure compliance with global payroll regulations, tax laws, and social security requirements in each jurisdiction
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of global payroll operations
- Develop and implement global payroll policies, procedures, and controls to ensure consistent practices and compliance
- Stay updated with evolving payroll regulations, industry trends, and emerging technologies in global payroll management
- Lead and manage a team of payroll professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, finance, legal, and IT, to streamline payroll processes and data integration
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess payroll performance and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders for audits and compliance checks
- Lead global payroll projects, such as system implementations, upgrades, and payroll harmonisation initiatives
- Coordinate year-end payroll processes, including tax reporting, annual statements, and compliance filings globally
- Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to senior leadership on payroll-related matters

Insurance plans and warranties are staples of a successful digital company, but setting them up is challenging. Businesses must compare and write contracts with insurance providers which require the expensive assistance of legal and financial teams, Add to this the cost of web designers who can embed the service online, and insurance and warranties quickly become unaffordable to smaller businesses.
Cover Genius provides end-to-end APIs called XCover and XClaim for embedding insurance and warranty plans onto online stores, preventing the business from having to compare, arrange and deploy insurance plans themselves. The company's policies are for any business, can be translated into over 40 languages, and are designed to be read easily without unnecessary jargon.
Whilst other insurtech companies offer similar services to Cover Genius, the company has uniquely focused on ensuring its plans are easily readable, translatable, and dynamically priced based on personal requirements. Although the company initially aimed to facilitate insurance and warranty plans for smaller businesses, it also partners with large enterprises such as Ryanair, Amazon, and eBay. In 2024 it secured impressive Series E funding off the back of a year where it achieved 107% year-on-year growth.
