Who you are

  • Experience designing, developing, and working with dimensional models is a must
  • 10+ years of strong database and SQL experience
  • 7+ years of experience leading projects/teams from conception to completion in fast-paced dynamic environments
  • 5+ years of Python, OOP, SDLC, and CI/CD, designing and implementing ETL/ELT frameworks for complex data mart projects
  • Proven experience in architecting, designing, implementing, and maintaining multi-layered SQL and Python processes
  • Experience working with Jenkins/Airflow or other job orchestration/runner frameworks
  • Experience working with Relational Database Management Systems, including PostgreSQL, RDS, and Cloud Data Warehouses such as Snowflake and AWS Redshift
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related study is preferred
  • Nice to have: AWS and/or Snowflake Certifications

What the job involves

  • As a Team Lead, you will oversee a team of engineers in the design and implementation of technical solutions to address business challenges
  • You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Analytics, and Operations, and work alongside other Software Engineering teams to ensure the delivery of impactful business outcomes
  • Our most effective Team Leads act as "multipliers," guiding peers through technical best practices and knowledge sharing
  • They excel in managing project timelines and expectations, fostering strong cross-functional partnerships, continuously refining the software development lifecycle (SDLC) process, swiftly addressing production and operational issues, and proactively managing risks to ensure seamless delivery
  • Lead a team and technical initiatives by designing and architecting solutions that meet the business needs, ensuring data accuracy, reliability, and performance
  • Collaborating with principals, peers, leadership, and the business to execute solutions
  • Act diligently to respond to urgent projects and tasks
  • Troubleshooting discrepancies in existing databases, data pipelines, warehouses, and reporting
  • Work as a “full stack” Data Engineer, contributing to each phase of the SDLC, building a new pipeline between two data sources or working with the business to design and develop a new dashboard
  • Usage of Python, Go, Postgres, Kafka, and several parts of AWS
  • Advise on best practices and innovative designs/solutions
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management to support the operation of the business

Our take

Providing customers with quick access to credit is important for fintech companies to survive in today's financial landscape of open banking, but this is made difficult by high credit rejection rates from banks. However, these decisions are generally made by human assessments of data which are limited due to the complexity of the modern financial landscape. AI-driven solutions, able to analyse vast amounts of data almost instantly to derive accurate credit risk assessments, present room for improvement in the lending industry.

Enova provides a platform called Colossus that leverages AI and machine learning-enabled analytics to provide businesses and individuals with fast, reliable, and trustworthy credit. The company achieves this by partnering with banks and sharing its data analysis solutions, helping to identify opportunities for credit when they would otherwise be missed. There is definitely a market for its product: over 8 million customers have funded almost $50 billion through the platform to date.

Enova has grown strongly in recent years based on the rapid uptake of its product. As the macroeconomic climate remains volatile, businesses will increasingly come to rely on Enova's AI-based solutions to help them manage credit risk and navigate an increasingly complex lending environment.
