Company mission

To build the planet's most efficient factory to accelerate a democratic, abundant, spacefaring future.

Role

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a relevant STEM field
  • In lieu of a degree, at least 5 years of leadership experience in a high-intensity production environment may be considered
  • 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing role, with a strong preference for those who have led meaningful projects
  • Experience in developing and implementing production processes/systems in a high-growth environment
  • Proven track record of project execution in a manufacturing setting
  • Demonstrated proficiency in solving deep technical or operations problems
  • Intelligent Project Management: Demonstrated ability to prioritize high-impact projects, manage resources effectively, and drive projects to completion within tight deadlines
  • Analytical and Systematic: Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to develop systematic solutions for complex manufacturing challenges
  • Collaborative and Autonomous: Ability to work independently on project execution while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure project success
  • Innovative and Adaptable: Quick to adapt to new challenges and continuously seeks innovative solutions to enhance production efficiency and quality
  • This position offers a unique opportunity to impact our manufacturing processes directly, contributing to the scalability and efficiency of our operations
  • If you are driven by challenging projects, systematic problem-solving, and making a tangible impact, we encourage you to apply

Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience applying software approaches (SQL, VBA, Python, etc.) is a plus

What the job involves

  • We are looking for machinists with a passion to push the trade forward and engineers with the drive to augment manufacturing
  • The Manufacturing Engineer - Factory Development plays a critical role in advancing our manufacturing capabilities through strategic project management, system building, and innovative problem-solving
  • This individual is tasked with identifying and tackling high-priority operational and technical challenges, deploying systematic solutions, and driving the introduction of new processes and assets to support rapid scaling of production
  • This role demands a combination of technical expertise, project management acumen, and an unwavering commitment to uncovering true, pragmatic solutions that address the root of problems
  • Project Execution:
  • Take ownership of critical projects from inception to completion. This involves diving into complex operational or technical challenges, conducting thorough analysis, and deploying effective solutions
  • Projects will vary from current operational optimizations to the resolution of intricate technical issues requiring robust solutions
  • Root Cause Analysis:
  • When faced with complex problems, perform detailed root cause analysis to understand the underlying issues. Lead the team towards implementing real, sustainable solutions rather than temporary fixes
  • This requires a systematic approach to problem-solving and a deep technical understanding of manufacturing processes
  • System Building:
  • Play a pivotal role in identifying areas within the factory that require immediate systematic improvements
  • Lead the development of early, pragmatic solutions that not only address current operational inefficiencies but also lay the groundwork for future software development
  • By creating these initial solutions, you will provide valuable insights that directly inform the direction and priorities of longer-term technological advancements
  • Asset and Process Introduction:
  • As part of our rapid scaling efforts, lead the redesign of existing processes and the introduction of new processes and assets
  • This entails full process design and implementation to significantly increase production rates and introduce capabilities previously unavailable

Otta's take

CEO of Otta

Hadrian is an industrial automation company that creates autonomous factories for aerospace components. Founded by a former history student, the inspiration for Hadrian was the notion that throughout history, empires begin to fall when they outsource their core industries to lower-cost countries, resulting in internal stagnation and mass unemployment.

To counter this historic trend, founder Chris Power founded Hadrian, which uses machine learning to automate the processes of component factories. Power honed in on key US industries that were lacking in scaleable solutions. Aerospace and defense is one area in which the USA relies on boutique experts who lack the manpower to build at scale. This factory automation solution addresses bottlenecks in manufacturing aerospace components that slow down progress due to owner-operated machine shops.

With investment from early Facebook and Air BnB investors Andreessen Horowitz, Hadrian is setting a precedent for a new era of machine work innovation. Hadrian’s main challenge will be convincing smaller manufacturers in the sector to embrace the precision and time-saving benefits of automation. With two factories now operational, Hadrian will need to continue its growth to meet the growing demand for component manufacturing.
