Role

Who you are

  • We are looking for a Senior Back-End Engineer who is enthusiastic about creating remarkable back-end infrastructure, motivated to join a vibrant team, and thrilled to be transforming the landscape of small business financing at iwoca
  • Proficiency in Python 3, with a strong background in back-end engineering
  • Experience with the Django web framework and Object Relational Mapping (ORM) with a PostgreSQL database back end
  • Experience in creating and integrating web services using REST API’s

Desirable

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, including containerisation and CI/CD processes
  • Experience working with predictive models using pandas dataframes
  • A strong numerate background, i.e. maths, physics, computer science, engineering, or similar

What the job involves

  • Design and create web-based microservices that contain business-critical functionality
  • They will need to integrate with existing lending processes using RESTful API calls. You will maintain business continuity by deploying incremental changes with continuous testing and monitoring
  • Collaborate with Credit Analysts to enhance their work by defining new features and capturing new data to make better lending decisions
  • Improve the internal business logic that underpins iwoca's automated lending flow. For example, you’ll work on the logic that implements automated checks and routes applications to different logical subsystems
  • The Credit Risk Analytics team is a versatile team of developers, analysts, and credit risk managers
  • Their objective is to maximise iwoca’s ability to create value without taking too much credit risk
  • They hold daily standup meetings to share progress updates and help each other to solve problems
  • The environment is dynamic and autonomous, with a focus on ‘getting things done’ and delivering high quality solutions
  • You’ll work closely with stakeholders, delivering solutions in an iterative way, collecting and addressing feedback, and also providing support
