Who you are

  • 8+ years of experience with 5+ years in product marketing, sales, account management, growth or other strategic GTM role at a B2B software company
  • Excitement about fintech, the future of our financial system, and eliminating fraud in the ecosystem
  • Strong presence and verbal communicator – comfortable engaging with leaders at the largest fintechs and financial institutions in the U.S
  • Outstanding written communication skills – comfortable developing marketing and sales collateral, as well articulating our strategy with internal stakeholders (e.g. business case, narrative)
  • Desire to build a GM skill-set and engage deeply with cross-functional partners across Product, Design, Sales, and Growth
  • Thoughtful strategic thinker with a bias for action; comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment with a high degree of ambiguity

What the job involves

  • The team is responsible for all revenue and adoption goals tied to our product line - specifically Layer
  • This includes early target market sizing, defining MVP/Beta criteria for success, and driving to full commercialization and scale of existing and new products
  • In this role, you will be responsible for driving adoption and revenue of Plaid’s Identity solutions by developing & executing strategies to further develop existing target markets, scale into new markets, and unlock new use cases
  • In addition, you will serve as a key ‘voice of the customer’, working closely with our Product team to develop and refine our product suite and overall roadmap
  • Accelerate revenue growth by leading efforts to develop existing target markets, scale into new markets, and unlock new use cases
  • Partner closely with Product on our roadmap to ensure we’re building the right solutions for our current and future target markets
  • Partner closely with Sales and Marketing to ensure we are meeting our collective goals across adoption and revenue
  • Drive step-function improvements across go-to-market functions (e.g. marketing, sales, account management)
  • Represent and communicate the ‘voice of the customer’ across our Identity Verification business unit
  • Influence cross-functionally across Product, Design, Sales, and Growth to drive alignment on GTM strategy, narrative, and priorities

Our take

Plaid builds infrastructure that allows a consumer to interact with their bank account on the web through a number of third-party applications, like Venmo, Robinhood, Coinbase, Acorns and LendingClub.

Plaid has integrated with 12,000 financial institutions in the US, Canada, the UK and Europe. About a quarter of people living in North America with bank accounts have linked with Plaid through at least one of the hundreds of apps that leverage Plaid’s application program interfaces (APIs). The platform allows companies to create financial services applications without having to hire their own team of engineers to build out a tool that connects apps to its users’ bank accounts.

This is very valuable in a world where there are increasing number of fintechs, so the demand for Plaid's services are only going to grow. Despite its strong position, it has not been immune to the difficult global economic situtation and was forced to restructure at the end of 2022, laying off some of its workforce. However it is still experiencing growth and is well-positioned to weather the current economic uncertainty.
