Company mission

To create technology and health intelligence that empowers health service providers to deliver quality, sustainable eye and health care to everyone.

Role

Who you are

  • Can hold onto the big picture when thinking about and discussing the detail
  • Can work within time and resource constraints to deliver the results that matter
  • Incorporate conflicting and passionately held viewpoints in an empathetic and tactful manner
  • Commitment to continuous improvement both professionally and throughout our processes and products
  • User-centred approach - You understand users and can identify who they are and what their needs are, based on evidence

Desirable

  • Knowledge of global eye care or global health more broadly
  • Experience of working on software products designed for use in low- and middle-income countries

What the job involves

  • Peek is seeking to build a dynamic team of Product professionals to drive our product’s development. We are establishing our software as an indispensable component of global efforts to reverse the trend of increasing avoidable blindness that currently affects more than a billion people. The Product Team is critical to understanding our software users, defining product features and working with the wider Peek team to prioritise development and implement Peek’s product strategy
  • As a part of the developing Product Team, you will be accountable for Peek’s product management processes. You will also be accountable for continuously improving our practices, based on the evidence derived as our products develop. You will be familiar with digital product management, working in Agile teams and user-centric, evidence-based approaches to digital product design. You will embrace relationship building internally and externally with key partners and staff
  • The priority challenge in the first 12 months of the role will be facilitating at-scale implementation of our product as we seek to keep up with huge demand from eye health service providers primarily across Africa and Asia
  • Peek’s staff are distributed internationally around the globe and our customers and software users operate and deliver programmes in multiple countries. Travel to programmes using Peek in different countries will be part of the role (in line with Peek’s Travel Safety Policy). Peek’s culture enables a self managed team structure
  • User research - Eliciting feedback from internal and external stakeholders, designing user feedback surveys and interviewing current and prospective users
  • User product request management - Anticipating, reviewing and raising requests based on feedback. Owning these requests through the full product development lifecycle
  • Facilitating a cross-disciplinary approach to ideation, elaboration and validation of product requirements
  • Communicating our product vision internally and externally
  • Collaborating with the Head of Product and Services to ensure that monthly product development cycles inform and contribute to implementation of the product roadmap and wider company strategic objectives

Application process

  • Closing Date: 2nd January 2022

Our take

Peek Vision is a social enterprise that develops evidence-based smartphone tools for eye health organisations to tackle the global vision crisis and improve access to eye care in low- and middle-income countries. Its smartphone technology allows non-specialists – such as teachers and community health workers – to conduct vision screening and eye health surveys in homes, communities and schools. Eye health services using Peek can screen for eye health conditions by using a smartphone app to conduct vision checks and then track patients through the health system.

This generates real-time data allowing healthcare providers to identify gaps and inequalities in their services, understand where the need is greatest and how to improve services through cost-effective, targeted treatment. Peek's award-winning Peek Acuity app has been shown to be at least as accurate as a conventional eye test in independent research.

Peek Vision has offices in Botswana, Kenya and the UK, and works in partnership with eye health organisations, governments and NGOs across the world. Peek tools are clinically validated and supported by years of peer-reviewed research and trials.
