To unite data, no matter where it lives, and empower its users to analyze, take action, and make smart decisions.

Role

Who you are

  • 2+ years of experience in Product Management
  • Experience shipping B2B SaaS software to customers
  • A desire to dive into complex solutions and work with a highly technical product and customers
  • Experience partnering with Product Design to build delightful user experiences
  • Experience working with engineering teams to design and build products in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience with Growth product management: measurement, experimentation, and multivariate testing
  • Experience operating or using Grafana Labs open source projects or products
  • Experience with open source software and/or commercial open source companies
  • Experience with products offered both via SaaS and self-managed

What the job involves

  • As a Product Manager at Grafana Labs, you'll develop a vision and strategy for your product domain. You will own your product’s roadmap, collateral, and market research, and you will collaborate with Grafana leadership on fine-tuning your product’s goals
  • You will be the primary advocate and expert in your area, with a strong ability to communicate needs, functionality, and details effectively both to external customers and internal stakeholders
  • Product Managers are the bridge that connect Engineering, Design, and Product Design to Go-To-Market
  • You are a facilitator who ensures the free flow of information across these teams and are expected to be technically proficient when representing our products to our customers
  • You will be the product manager for the Sharing teams at Grafana Labs, which are building essential features at the core of our users’ key workflows for both external and internal adoption
  • You will improve Grafana’s sharing and export capabilities to help users collaborate and get their Grafana content to their audience
  • This includes everything from embedding visualizations in other applications to creating reports for executives
  • You will also help users share queries internally across an organization by creating a query library to help users reuse the often-complex queries involved in data exploration and troubleshooting
  • Lastly, you’ll improve tools like Correlations that help users link from one kind of data to another, which is essential for exploring complex infrastructure and different kinds of telemetry
  • The engineering teams you’ll work with are relatively new, and there is tremendous opportunity to improve users’ querying and sharing experiences
  • You’ll develop deep fluency with customer needs in this space, as well as the existing landscape of open-source and commercial solutions
  • You’ll define a vision for the future, designing new sharing integrations or intuitive query workflows that help users resolve issues faster
  • You will be responsible for integrating this vision into our customers’ observability journey, driving widespread adoption, and contributing to the overall growth of Grafana
  • Transform ideas and feedback into a product vision and roadmap
  • Empathize with customer problems in order to collect user needs, requirements, and pain points
  • Curate and properly represent user feedback to Engineering, while providing evidence to support tradeoffs and priorities
  • Work closely with Product Marketing to explain our tracing platform’s unique differentiation to Go-To-Market teams, creating documentation, blog posts, website content, datasheets, and whitepapers
  • Use your deep product expertise to make decisions about our go-to-market strategies, pricing, packaging, licensing, and tiering

Our take

Observability plays a crucial role in software development, where dashboards are pivotal for monitoring the health of IT infrastructure across an organization. However, for developers, the frustration of spending unnecessary time navigating between different dashboards to find the latest information detracts from valuable programming time.

Grafana collaborates closely with its clients to create customizable observability platforms, striving to enhance efficiency in observability. Its offerings include cloud-based data structures, dashboards, API plugins, and collaboration tools. Currently, FGrafana boasts over 21M active instances and approximately 10M users globally, with a customer base exceeding 2,000, including prominent names like Bloomberg, PJ Morgan Chase, eBay, PayPal, and Sony.

While Grafana provides free plans with a simplified tool package, the Grafana Enterprise Stack offers customized observability solutions on a monthly subscription basis. The company's ongoing strategy revolves around continually improving Grafana to meet users' demands, enhancing functionality with each iteration, and fostering community engagement by enabling users to share their Grafana dashboards with the broader open-source community.
