Financial Risk Manager, Freetrade

• You are a highly skilled in Risk Management, with deep technical expertise in at least one area of financial risk (ideally several)
• You have extensive expertise and experience of the key prudential regulatory assessments, e.g. ICAAP / ICARA
• You keep up to date with prudential regulatory changes, as well as developments in industry risk management practices and technology
• You have experience of securities markets. Experience of equity and FX market risk, securities lending and counterparty credit risk would all be assets
• You ideally have experience from a technology-led financial institution and/or start-up / scale-up environments
• You prioritise a practical approach to risk management
• You can translate risk concerns and processes to employees from a diverse group of disciplines, including non-financial ones
• You are resourceful and self-starting; you have appetite for picking up areas of which you have limited past experience, learning and where needed recruiting expertise
• You have strong numerical skills and are comfortable with the application and analysis of risk concepts, such as VaR

• We are looking for an expert candidate to join as a Financial Risk manager. You will join a fast growing Risk team in its early stages of development, as Freetrade moves to its next stage of growth and global expansion. The role will report directly to the Head of Risk. You will work across Freetrade’s functions and business lines, from the engineering and product teams, to operations and compliance. You will help build a best in class, scalable and data driven risk function, shaping risk management in both the first and second lines
• Establish the Financial Risk Management framework, in partnership with the Head of Risk; including the development and maintenance of the risk policies, risk appetite statements and KRIs
• Own, drive and be the subject matter expert for the regulatory capital and liquidity assessment processes (e.g. ICAAP / ICARA, wind-down plan, stress testing, Pillar 3) across Freetrade’s expanding group, in partnership with the broader Risk team and Finance team
• Management of financial risk appetite through limit calibration and monitoring, including for FX and equity market risk, counterparty credit risk and liquidity risk
• Provide review and challenge of first line financial risk
• Close partnership with business functions to identify, monitor, and govern emerging financial risks, including risk assessments, maintenance of key policies, procedures, and controls
