Company mission

Cloudflare's mission is to help build a better Internet that is bold and ambitious.

Role

Who you are

  • Demonstrated success delivering technology solutions in the Billing space
  • Knowledge of best practices for in fintech, financial reporting, compliance or other similar domain at a Saas company
  • Experience managing customer facing products focused on global payments, tax, checkout, invoicing, and other quote to cash activities
  • Please note that any offer of employment may be conditioned on your authorization to receive software or technology controlled under these U.S. export laws without sponsorship for an export license

Desirable

  • Internet native companies tend to think a little differently than the Fortune 500. We’d love to meet folks with a history of delivering with the cadence and timescales of those born on the Internet
  • Engineering fluency - while it’s not required, we tend to find success with candidates who have a technical background, formal or otherwise. You don’t need a CS degree but building credibility with our engineering teams is critical and so some history of technical acumen would be super helpful
  • Finance fluency - You’re dealing with data that represents money and that implies a certain level of care. You’ll also be working with a lot of finance types. Fluency in this world might be helpful
  • At Cloudflare it’s pretty helpful to understand how the Internet really works at layers 2 through 7. If you don’t have this, be prepared to speak with mastery about another realm of similar complexity

What the job involves

  • Cloudflare has embarked on a transformation of our entire quote to cash process
  • We’re looking for a seasoned product manager who will take charge of these processes, providing leadership, communication and accountability for successful delivery
  • Own your space. You will manage a set of key products in the Quote to Cash lifecycle, directly impacting both internal and external customers around the world
  • Work horizontally. Disparate groups like Engineering, Program Management, Finance, Revenue Operations, Business Intelligence and external vendors like Stripe and Salesforce all need to keep plans aligned and work together to deliver commitments
  • Span timescales. Short term deliverables like supporting product launches, medium term ones like migrating billing progresses and longer term ones like a full ERP implementation all need to be serviced. The urgent cannot starve the important
  • Span domains. You need to simultaneously let other teams rely on the roadmaps you publish while being responsive to the interrupt-driven nature of the business. When shifts do occur, you need to proactively communicate with other teams to maintain trust
  • Commit to quality. Our #1 priority is to have an accurate picture of revenue and service of our customers but we also have numerous other concerns like speed of innovation and advancing the roadmap
  • Communicate and collaborate. Essential to the success of this program is the ability to listen, learn, synthesize and communicate outwards as well as influence through persuasion
  • Represent Cloudflare. Many of our largest customers want to speak to us about their concerns and our plans in the billing domain. You will spend time learning from them
  • Provide and demand accountability. You are responsible for the delivery of your commitments and you will hold your peers and subordinates accountable for theirs

Our take

Cloudflare is a multi-service global network that provides web security and infrastructure, DDoS mitigation services, and a content delivery network. Founded in 2009, Cloudflare has risen to become an industry giant, with around 25 million global internet properties on its network.

Cloudflare has been responsible for a number of admirable initiatives, offering free web protection to human rights groups, journalists, artists, and US election websites. This goes some way to counteracting the flak Cloudflare has received in some circles for the controversial groups and users who use its services. This chequered history, however, has not affected its over 80% market share in the content delivery network field.

This is perhaps in part because it has proven sharp at staying abreast of the rapidly morphing tech and digital space and customer demands. For example, Cloudflare is shifting to 100% renewable energy usage to create a zero-emissions internet, and in 2020 released a feature that would help users navigate data privacy regulations by selecting where their data is stored.

The cloud infrastructure market reached $53 billion in 2022. While the Big 3 (Amazon, Microsoft, and Google) own 65% of the market, that still leaves billions of dollars left for companies such as Cloudflare. Its ambitious and successful work is likely to continue being a crucial feature of the web, but in 2023, placed it in the crosshairs of hackers looking to exploit its infrastructure. The beginning of 2024 saw Cloudflare vow to bolster its security and patch vulnerabilities.
