Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CISM) are a plus
- 8+ years of experience in information security, with a focus on application security, network security, or security operations
- Strong understanding of security principles, protocols, and technologies
- Experience with security tools and technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, SIEM, vulnerability scanners, etc
- Familiarity with cloud security, particularly in AWS and Google Cloud environments
- Proven experience in incident response and forensic investigations
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Experience in the food or e-commerce industry is a plus but not required
- This role requires a strong technical background, strategic thinking, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security risks
What the job involves
- We are seeking an experienced Lead Security Engineer. You will be responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of our systems, data, and networks
- You will lead the development and implementation of security policies, protocols, and procedures, and work closely with cross-functional teams to protect our digital assets
- Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, protocols, and procedures
- Lead the design and execution of security strategies to protect CookUnity's data, systems, and networks
- Conduct security assessments, vulnerability testing, and risk analysis
- Monitor and respond to security incidents, managing incident response processes
- Work closely with development, IT, and operations teams to integrate security best practices
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and technology solutions
- Mentor and provide guidance to engineers across the company
- Collaborate with external security partners and vendors to enhance security posture

CookUnity is a meal subscription service which connects consumers with some of the country's best known chefs, including Esther Choi, Chris Ratel and Andy Mendez. Consumers can select from a menu of handcrafted meals that cater to a wide variety of palates and dietary preferences. Believing that healthy food fuels stronger communities, CookUnity contributes to an ongoing partnership and donation with the Food Bank For New York City.
The New York founded business hit the headlines for its upward trajectory in 2020, where it secured 15.5 million in funding and saw an expected boost not just in demand, but in the supply of top culinary talent at a time when restaurants were struggling.
While there’s a wide world of meal plan delivery services, CookUnity has a jump on much of the competition as it’s the first service that connects such eminent chefs directly with the customer. This has allowed it to expand across much of the US, and it now prepares over 10 million meals annually for its 50,000 subscribers.
With most of the urban US now covered by its service, CookUnity is moving into the next phase of its growth, expanding the range of sellers and food products on the platform, and has plans to offer family-sized portions, brekfast options and cooking classes using its existing physical and digital infrastructure. This will enable it to grow into an all-in-one meal subscription service over the coming years.
