Company mission

To build the next generation of media platforms designed to inspire millions of people to grow and share a diverse and inclusive vision of the world.

Role

Who you are

  • The ideal candidate has a strong adtech background (namely openRTB and campaign delivery), sufficient direct technical knowledge to support the roadmap execution with engineering stakeholders, the ability to leverage data to build robust product hypotheses, and a natural predilection for cross-team collaboration
  • A proven track record in product management
  • Experience working in advertising technology, particularly openRTB, targeting (contextual and audience), campaign management, and DMPs. Direct header bidding and SSAI experience is a plus
  • Experience in using data to build product intuitions and support product decisions. Proficient in communicating rationales behind product strategy with charts and graphs. Familiar with big dataset analysis, A/B testing, and advertising metrics
  • Ability to easily understand the technical background of advertising products (client/server-side environments, ad calls and bidding, IDs and consent collection, technical tracking)
  • Accustomed to collaborative, cross-functional projects that need to build alignment among different stakeholders
  • Experience using product management tools: Jira, Notion, Looker Studio (R and jQuery will be considered a plus)
  • Languages: full working proficiency in French and English

What the job involves

  • The Product Advertising team is in charge of conceiving and optimizing innovative monetization solutions for both Dailymotion advertising and publisher partners
  • With a strong emphasis on data, brand safety, and privacy, the team ensures that the views operated on the platform (website, mobile apps, connected TVs) generate revenues for Dailymotion and its partners while delivering value for advertisers and agencies
  • Depending on their seniority, the product managers in this team are responsible for driving the product vision for the Dailymotion proprietary advertising stack, collaborating with different internal and external stakeholders to intercept market trends and needs, prioritizing features and initiatives with high business impact, and working with the engineering team to develop, deliver, and deploy new advertising products
  • Contribute to the creation, communication and constant prioritization of Dailymotion’s advertising products roadmap by:
  • Gathering requirements from internal and external stakeholders and rationalizing them into coherent product initiatives backed by data or measurable product assumptions
  • Breaking down the continuous optimization of existing advertising products into meaningful milestones with the aim of increasing profitability
  • Applying an iterative approach while bringing new products to the market to optimize Time To Revenue
  • Communicate internally the roadmap to constantly align stakeholders and preserve focus on prioritized initiatives
  • Work closely with the Data team to monitor the vital metrics of the advertising products (VTR, viewability, IVT, fill rate, consent rate, etc.) and keep the monetization funnels constantly optimized through A/B tests and experiments
  • Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to follow up on the development, deployment, and market testing of new releases
  • Update the documentation of the platform when necessary

Our take

In many ways, it's difficult to talk about Dailymotion without talking about YouTube, its most obvious competitor. And it is indeed worth noting that the company underwent a major change in recent years to build its own programmatic platform partially to compete more directly with its famous American counterpart.

However, the truth is the nature of modern content consumption means that Dailymotion need not obsess over YouTube’s user base. There’s enough of an audience - at least 4 billion people by some estimates - for both video-streaming giants to co-exist.

That means Dailymotion has been able to experiment with different strategies. For example, the platform indisputably has better relationships than YouTube with its corporate partners, often engaging in bespoke product development to facilitate deeper relationships.

Perhaps the biggest competitive threat for Dailymotion will be not from its rival video-streaming platform, but from entirely new forms of internet-based entertainment. Short-form video content from platforms like TikTok is already siphoning away the younger cohort of users from longer-format video providers, a trend Dailymotion will need to address in the future.
