Our take

PayPal was founded in 1998, initially as Confinity, on the fundamental conviction that having access to financial services creates opportunity for individuals. Its central aim, therefore, is to democratise financial services and empower people and businesses to thrive in the global economy.

Its online platform makes receiving and sending money secure and effortless, giving people the confidence to transact online, on a mobile device, or in an app. Through this combination of strategic partnerships and technological innovation, PayPal continues to create better ways to manage and move money.

This helps users run online businesses, split bills, pool funds, and send money easily. You can also use PayPal to pay in person, getting instant spend notifications from the app, while its Wallet safely stores all of your credit and debit cards in one place, simplifying financial payments for all.

PayPal puts customer needs at the core of all they do, mediated by its emphasis on collaboration, innovation, wellness, and inclusion. Due to this approach, it is now available in over 200 markets across the globe, has 325 million active account holders, allowing users to receive money in more than 100 currencies, withdraw in 56, and hold balances in 25. While currently offering cryptocurrency services in the US, it is seeking to expand this in 2021.
