Role

Who you are

  • 2-4 years experience developing web applications
  • Proven understanding of Computer Science fundamentals including web development, service-oriented architecture, cloud computing, test driven development and domain driven design
  • Strong understanding of Javascript and the best practices around the web
  • Understanding of capabilities with HTML5 and DOM manipulation
  • Advanced CSS Knowledge: Grid, Flexbox, Media Queries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent is a plus
  • Strong candidates will also have
  • Fluency in Node.js
  • Exposure to Docker, AWS or other cloud or container based application deployment a plus
  • Experience with technologies: ExpressJs, React, Redis, NextJs, Terraform, Webpack

  • We are looking for creative and passionate web developers who want to be part of a growing technology team that focuses on giving our users a memorable experience with our world-renowned content
  • In this particular role, you’ll work with the Barron’s team and other Dow Jones products to bring our site to new levels of user engagement and technology optimization
  • Dig into product requirements to discover goals desired to make informed decisions on technical approaches
  • Analyze complex technological problems and present solutions
  • Be able to prioritize and manage work, adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Successfully collaborate with engineers across other Dow Jones products to both prevent unexpected issues and take advantage of shared technology
  • Influence designers and product team to define goals that bring the most value to Barron’s and align with the technical standards set
  • Advocate for engineering best practices
  • Handle deployments to production environments
  • Understand and improve standards of code development for shared applications and services
  • Learn about new technologies and be able to present pros and cons of adoption in terms of business value, scalability, maintainability, and project delivery performance
