Company mission

To democratise motion design for everyone, everywhere. To create a world of storytellers and make the web more fun through animations.

Role

Who you are

  • Thoughtful problem-solving: For you, problem-solving starts with a clear and accurate understanding of the context. You can decompose tricky problems and work towards a clean solution, by yourself or with teammates. You're comfortable asking for help when you get stuck
  • Put users first: You think critically about the implications of what you're building, and how it shapes real people's lives. You understand that reach comes with responsibility for our impact—good and bad
  • Scrappy and Experimentation-driven: Beyond UX design research and Figma UIs, you understand that sometimes the best way to figure out a solution is to be scrappy and build functional versions. You thrive in testing various hypothesis live with users, learn and iterate quickly towards a high-quality solution
  • Pragmatic and business-oriented: You care about the business impact of what you're building, and you prioritize projects accordingly. You're not just going after cool stuff—you understand the balance between craft, speed, and the bottom line
  • Familiarity with the backend: You understand how parts of a system fit together—from the user interface to the data model. Experienced candidates should be familiar with relational database systems like Postgres or MySQL and back-end frameworks like Rails
  • Not ideological about technology: To you, technologies and programming languages are about tradeoffs. You may be opinionated, but you're not ideological and can learn new technologies as you go
  • Empathetic communication: You communicate nuanced ideas clearly, whether you're explaining technical decisions in writing or brainstorming in real time. In disagreements, you engage thoughtfully with other perspectives and compromise when needed
  • Team player: You understand when work is better, together. You enjoy collaborating cross-functionally to accomplish shared goals, and you care about learning, growing, and helping others to do the same
  • Evidence of experience building tools and processes that have driven growth in early stage or fast-growing tech company
  • Experience shipping fast, reliable, real-time applications using modern development technologies
  • Deep understanding of the tools that power marketing automation, experimentation, personalisation, attribution, and analytics
  • Expertise in implementing third-party tools and integrating them in first-party applications:
  • Segment, Optimizely, Iterable, Mixpanel Amplitude, Google Analytics, or similar products
  • Ability to improvise and develop creative solutions when common approaches fail. Understand the trade-offs in employing different engineering solutions to a problem, valuing pragmatism over idealism
  • Perpetual curiosity and passion for honing and sharing your craft
  • PostgreSQL
  • Ruby / Rails
  • Typescript, Javacript, ReactJS

Desirable

  • Startup experience: technical founder/co-founder, growth, GTM or data roles
  • Experience with conversion rate optimisation
  • Affinity for marketing and growth
  • Experience with Google’s Marketing Platform: GA 360, SA 360, DV 360, Tag Manager, etc

What the job involves

  • As our Founding Growth Ops Engineer, you’ll be an internal subject matter expert on technology stack for customer journey/ experience, marketing and growth enablement
  • Whether it involves scraping data, talking to users, building dashboards to centralise insights for the team, leveraging no-code tools and APIs, writing scripts for automation or implementing product onboarding steps, you’re intensely driven by hitting customer growth targets and ready to roll up your sleeve to make sure the customer journey engine runs smoothly
  • User Acquisition:
  • Technical marketing activities to improve user acquisition channels. This might involve SEO activities, PPC, building or optimising parts of the landing page/ website etc
  • Conversion optimisation:
  • Be responsible for tools we leverage to understand user behaviour and experiments we implement to drive critical actions taken by users to convert at scale
  • Continuous Customer Experience and Health:
  • Ensuring critical touchpoints across the customer journey are up to date such as collaborating with the design/ content team on email/ marketing outreach automations, implementing help docs, feedback gathering/ error logs etc
  • Growth Ops - Enable team with growth processes, tools and insights:
  • Partner with engineering and design to embed and advocate data-driven processes and insights across the product development process
  • Build foundational Growth infrastructure, stack and dashboards for tracking user behaviour, engaging users and running experiments

Otta's take

CTO of Otta

The Lottie file type emerged in 2017 as a website and mobile app animation alternative to GIFs (which cannot be exported as code and lack interactivity), however, most Lottie animations require the use of Adobe After Effects, a 30-year-old VFX tool with a steep learning curve.

LottieLab is web-based, collaborative, and simple, bringing sites and apps to life with its scalable, high-fidelity animations that can be exported as code, and, most importantly, After Effects is not needed to use it.

The company plans to use its latest Point Nine-led funding to expand its team and further product innovation. Lottie Lab’s community includes Google, Grammarly, Duolingo, EA Sports and more, solidifying its place within the $25 billion product animation market (which is expected to grow 4X over the next decade).
