Who you are

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with AWS
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience writing automation scripts (preferably Python)
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools, particularly Datadog
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure components and networking concepts
  • Based (with the right to work) in the UK or The Netherlands

What the job involves

  • You will collaborate closely with our product and platform teams, including software engineers, and product managers
  • As a DevOps Engineer, you will be a member of our platform team by playing a critical role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and performance of our platform. You will be responsible for managing and optimizing our infrastructure
  • Infrastructure Management: You will be responsible for managing and scaling our infrastructure on AWS
  • This includes provisioning and configuring EC2 instances, setting up load balancers, managing networking components (VPC, Route53, etc.), and optimizing the overall architecture for high availability and fault tolerance
  • Deployment and Continuous Integration: You will design and implement efficient deployment pipelines using industry best practices
  • This will involve utilizing tools such as AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeDeploy, and Github. You will automate the deployment process to ensure smooth and reliable software releases
  • Monitoring and Alerting: You will set up and configure monitoring and alerting systems using Datadog
  • This includes defining and tracking relevant metrics, creating dashboards, and setting up alerts to proactively identify and resolve any issues or bottlenecks
  • You will work on optimizing the performance and availability of our systems based on the insights gathered from monitoring data
  • Infrastructure as Code: You will contribute to the development and maintenance of infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform
  • This will enable reproducibility, scalability, and consistency of our infrastructure across environments
  • Security and Compliance: You will collaborate with other engineers to ensure that our infrastructure and applications comply with industry standards and best practices
  • You will implement and maintain security measures such as encryption, access controls, and vulnerability scanning
  • Troubleshooting and Incident Management: You will be involved in troubleshooting production issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing preventive measures
  • You will participate in an on-call rotation to address any infrastructure-related incidents promptly
  • Collaboration and Documentation: You will actively participate in team meetings, providing technical guidance and collaborating with colleagues to improve processes and share knowledge
  • Additionally, you will document the infrastructure architecture, deployment processes, and standard operating procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members
