Who you are
- We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst with a strong focus on Business Intelligence, particularly in the context of a highly complex migration project from Cognos to Tableau
- The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of BI systems, data structures, and migration processes
- Proven experience as a Technical Business Analyst in Business Intelligence projects, with a focus on migrations
- Expertise in Cognos and Tableau platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex data structures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Understanding of data quality principles and experience implementing data governance practices
- Knowledge of best practices in data modeling and the ability to optimize data structures for reporting and analysis
What the job involves
- The primary responsibility of this role is to guide and oversee the intricacies of the migration, ensuring a seamless transition and optimization of business intelligence capabilities
- Lead and drive the migration process from Cognos to Tableau, understanding the complexities and challenges associated with such a transition
- Analyze existing Cognos infrastructure to identify key data components, data models, and dependencies that need to be considered during the migration
- Act as a subject matter expert in Business Intelligence, providing guidance to the project team on best practices, potential pitfalls, and optimization opportunities during the migration
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including data users, analysts, and IT teams, to ensure a comprehensive understanding of business requirements and data needs
- Assess and define data quality rules and standards in both Cognos and Tableau environments
- Collaborate with data governance teams to establish and enforce data quality measures, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of migrated data
- Evaluate and document existing data models in Cognos, and translate them into equivalent or enhanced models in Tableau
- Collaborate with data architects and modelers to optimize data structures and relationships in Tableau for improved performance and usability
- Create comprehensive documentation for the migration process, including data dictionaries, data lineage, and mapping documents
- Document any changes or enhancements made to data models, ensuring transparency and traceability
- Fixed Term Contract / Option to convert to Perm
