Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical field
  • 2-4 years’ industry experience as an effective technical writer
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics
  • Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Experience working with engineering to improve user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and other documentation tools

Desirable

  • Experience with software development environments and the use of APIs
  • Familiarity with the SDLC and software development practices
  • Experience with platforms like GitHub, Confluence, or JIRA
  • Certification through the Society for Technical Communicators

What the job involves

  • At Writer, we are seeking a skilled technical writer to join our dynamic team, focusing on creating clear and concise developer documentation for our new product, Writer AI Studio - a suite of development tools that make it fast and east to build feature-rich AI apps on our Writer platform
  • This role is crucial for ensuring that our internal and external stakeholders, including software developers and technical staff, understand and effectively use our products and services
  • Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards
  • Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience, turning insights language that sets our users up for success
  • Evaluate current content and develop innovative approaches for improvement
  • Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements
  • Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation
  • Work with development and support leads to identify all documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage
  • Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation
  • Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content
  • Manage updates and revisions to technical literature

This branded fine-tuning function distinguishes it from full copy-generation competitors, as well as from Grammarly itself, which is a more generalist copyediting tool. It subsequently caters to major enterprise clients looking to maintain standards across multiple and sprawling teams, and the company has managed to net major clients like Deloitte, Twitter, UiPath, and Accenture.

While AI-related buzz remains solidly around generative AIs like ChatGPT and Bard, Writer's narrow target market - in which it has already found success - supplies plenty of scope to grow, as AI copyediting tools look set to rapidly become content industry standard. With continued new launches and updates to its offerings as well as an impressive $100 million Series B awarded in 2023, the company is well-placed to seek further success into the future.
