Who you are
- Are you a junior lawyer looking to build your career in financial services?
- This role is perfect for someone newly qualified or with some post-qualification experience who is eager to develop expertise in financial services law, particularly in pensions, annuities, and equity release
- If you're ready to work on high-impact projects and gain exposure to strategic legal matters, this could be the next step in your career
- Qualified Solicitor or CILEX, authorised to practice in the UK
- Knowledge of pensions, annuities, and/or equity release (desirable but not essential)
- Strong ability to manage projects, negotiate contracts, and collaborate with stakeholders
- Commercial mindset with a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
What the job involves
- We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join Aviva’s UK Retirement legal team
- As a Legal Counsel in our UK Retirement legal team, you’ll provide legal advice and support on a broad range of matters, helping Aviva’s Bulk and Individual Annuity, Equity Release, and Investments business teams navigate complex regulations and strategic initiatives
- You’ll draft and negotiate contracts related to new business and distribution, advise on legal risks, and collaborate with colleagues across the legal function and the wider business
- This role also involves tracking legal developments that impact our industry and working closely with senior legal leaders to manage key risks
