Who you are
- We’d love to hear from you if you have strong documentation skills, consideration for your audience, and the ability to reflect the Bitly voice while still letting your own character shine through
- Our ideal candidate is clever, collaborative, and driven by their curiosity to solve problems and celebrate solutions
- We are very good at supporting each other and working across teams, and this role has a special place at the center of that network
- You’ve authored documentation for SaaS products with Zendesk Guide or a similar CMS
- You have experience with tools like Jira, Slack, Google Analytics, and translation tools like Phrase
- You’ve explored site traffic data as an indicator for user behavior and content needs
- A collaborative communicator with a willingness to learn and grow, as well as guide others

- Extra points if you’re familiar with Figma, Guru, basic HTML and CSS, and technical concepts like API, SSO, and webhooks

What the job involves
- Bitly’s Product Design team is looking for a Technical Writer to manage our product documentation and advise on other user facing content
- This writer will create and maintain help content for Bitly’s Connections Platform and QR Code Generator
- Create and maintain clear, friendly, accessible help content, including screenshots and video
- Strive to understand user needs and be an advocate for their success
- Consult website data and our customer-facing teams to inform content decisions
- Work with our EPD teams to understand new and existing features and localize content
- Be an editorial resource for our developer documentation, UX copy and other projects
- Create reports and internal announcements for content updates and performance

Our take
Bitly provides the service of shortening URLs along with offering link management for companies. Many major companies utilize shorter URLs for branding reasons; for example, Pepsi uses pep.si.
Shortened URLs have become big business, and competition in the space comes from the likes of TinyURL, along with Rebrandly and BL.INK. Bitly, that was majority purchased by Spectrum Equity for $63 million in 2017, has raised massive amounts of funding and achieved impressive annual revenues, and certainly seems to have established itself as a credible business in the market.
After acquiring leading QR code platform Egoditor and its flagship site QR Code Generator in 2021, Bitly has embarked upon rapid expansion, and added to the pool of talent across the business. For now, the company's focus seems to be on growing its global SaaS footprint; targeting QR Codes, link-in-bio, and link management.
