Who you are
- Required: professional experience in JavaScript/TypeScript and React
- Bonus: experience with AstroJS, testing frameworks such as Cypress, experience with VueJS, experience with Python

What the job involves
- As a frontend developer, you will work on Pasqal Cloud Services various internal and external web applications
- You will have the challenging task to create and implement smart and intuitive user interfaces to help get our technology in the hands of end users
- Developing the Pasqal Community Platform that strives to make quantum computing knowledge accessible to a large audience, notably via our e-learning course
- Extending the Community Platform with various modules, such as an interactive (no-code) IDEs for programming on Pasqal Quantum Processing Units (QPUs)
- Be involved in the development of the Pasqal User Portal, that carries our Quantum Computing as a Service offer, and our Admin Portal that provides business and engineering teams with visibility and control over the QPU usage and learning experience of the users
- Collaborating with designers to build a custom and scalable design system for Pasqal frontends
- Collaborating with the product team and designers to build a user-friendly interface with iterative improvements driven by user feedback and metrics collection
- Integrating Pasqal web portals with other frontend applications from third-party or other Pasqal teams, such as the control interface for the QPUs
- Writing structured and documented quality code
- Participating in the application's entire lifecycle
- Making sure all code pushed to production is correctly reviewed and tested
- Keeping a regular technological watch
- Having an inventive activity in the scientific and technical fields related to the Company's research, products, technologies and markets; filing patents

Our take
Classical computing, using bits made up of ones and zeros, have almost reached the physical limits of its capabilities, with engineers running out of ways to fit more transistors onto a computer chip. Meanwhile the processing demands on computing hardware only increase. Quantum computers have long been posited as a solution to this issue, with processors able to exploit quantum mechanics to perform calculations exponentially faster than any classical computer. Founded by a Nobel Prize for Physics recipient, Pasqal exists to bring quantum computing out of the realm of scientific research (and science fiction) and into the business world for the first time.
Pasqal is not alone in the race to produce quantum computers and it faces competition from well-funded rivals such as IonQ and IBM. However, it is pursuing a different technological line - neural atom computing, the ability to manipulate individual atoms with laser tweezers - which has the advantage of being more scalable and energy efficient, being able to run at room temperature rather than requiring supercooling.
In 2023, Pasqal closed a Series B funding round which will be used to develop its first quantum systems for use in business. Having successfully built proof of concept models and overcome the technical challenges of manipulating a few and then hundreds of atoms, Pasqal is building a bespoke control system and begin implementing quantum algorithms. Pasqal was also awarded one of five grants from the French Ministry of Defence in 2024, as part of a government plan to create 2 universal quantum computer systems for defence purposes by 2032. This new development indicates Pasqal's expansion from solely business purposes into new sectors where its technology can be impactful.
