Who you are

  • 3-5+ years of experience in a software engineering discipline

What the job involves

  • The SMS Mobile team at Klaviyo is responsible for empowering the over 250,000 Ecommerce clients we work with on a global scale to deliver effective experiences on mobile devices
  • This team focuses on performance optimization and continuous development of our Mobile Marketing Channels (SMS and Push Notifications), Mobile SDKs (IOS and Android), and Klaviyo's own mobile applications
  • While Email was how Klaviyo began, SMS is truly the way of the future
  • As a result of this, we put a lot of emphasis around keeping the client experience top of mind while making sure our mobile applications are able to scale at large for many of today's fastest growing brands
  • The SMS Market Expansion team is responsible for developing new services (on top of the Core SMS platform) that enable rapid growth and maximize the value of the SMS channel
  • Our SMS Market Expansion team works closely with our four other mobile teams which are focused on building long lasting relationships with our clients and their audiences through SMS conversations and deliverability pipeline while keeping an eye on new market opportunities AND optimizing our SMS Platform
  • Incoming members to the SMS Market Expansion team will be responsible for building the foundation of how we scale internally at Klaviyo
  • You will have an opportunity to make a major impact on the direction and priorities of the team
  • As an engineer on this team, you will be responsible for building and managing Klaviyo’s Customer Facing Mobile Application while also focusing on internal tooling working with various stakeholders across the company

From personalised newsletters to automated emails when customers abandon their shopping carts, the marketing automation platform makes it easy for businesses to capture, store, analyze, and predictively use their own data to drive measurable, high-value outcomes.

Klaviyo's CEO, Bialecki, believes that the main problem with e-mail marketing today is that there is a divide between two kinds of tools: analytics tools that help you understand what people are doing on a website, such as what products they are considering, and messaging tools that send them a marketing e-mail. Operating primarily within the retail and eCommerce industry, Klaviyo aims to solve this by offering a tool that brings together analytics and messaging. This allows companies to bring all of their first-party data into a single platform to get a deep understanding of their customers and then activate that data to deliver highly-targeted, personalised communications through email and SMS. In the process, Klaviyo's customers get a deep understanding of their consumers.

Klaviyo is a fast-growing company mainly due to its business model - the firm offers a concrete ROI for Klaviyo’s clients if the software persuades customers to make purchases by treating different types of customers differently. An IPO in 2023 has led to Klaviyo's release of Klaviyo AI, which empowers businesses to unlock revenue-driving opportunities and deliver exceptional customer experiences across channels. Still in its early days of public listing, it will be interesting to see how Klaviyo fares in the years to come.
