Who you are
- BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years working with at least one of our programming languages (Golang, Python,Java)
- 3+ years using AWS / cloud technologies
- High proficiency designing and implementing backend microservices and automation scripting
- High proficiency working with Scrum/Agile development methodologies
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
Desirable
- Experience with networking technologies (DNS, HTTP, AWS Networking) is a plus
- Experience with Terraform is a plus
- Experience managing/administering microservice architectures is a plus
- Experience with networking technologies (DNS, CIDR distribution, VPC peering,HAProxy) is a plus
- Experience with gRPC, Thrift, and other server-to-server communication protocols
- Experience with Infra as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) is a plus
What the job involves
- We are seeking a motivated backend software engineer (generalist) who wants to be a part of a fast-paced, startup-like environment
- Automate infrastructure maintenance by building control plane and self-service tooling
- Create best-in-class tools for service teams to monitor their applications’ performance and availability
- Create automation which enforces best practices
- Document infrastructure design, implementation, and maintenance processes
- Responsible for tier-1 infrastructure, requiring high-availability and resiliency from failure
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Kubernetes, networking, infrastructure as code and associated components
- Administer and maintain Kubernetes clusters, storage technologies, network architecture, service gateway, Observability tools and associated core platform infrastructure components
- Monitor and optimize the performance of our applications on Kubernetes

It's disrupting a sector so far largely averse to tech innovation, allowing users to close deals in less time than the industry average of 30-45 days. Compass is now the largest independent real estate brokerage in the USA, with over 29,000 agents nationwide.
Despite being a leading residential brokerage and competing well, Compass has remained unprofitable. While the company is replanning its cost structure to be profitable over the next year, it announced its third round of payoffs in early January 2023. Its profit-generating plans include expanding into mortgages, escrow & title services.
