Our take

Ocado Group develops the Ocado Smart Platform (OSP), the proprietary end-to-end eCommerce, fulfilment, and logistics platform which is sold to third party retailers around the world to deliver and scale up online grocery operations. It focusses on automation, robotics, Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, simulation and Big Data.

The online grocery sector has soared in the last few years, with customers enjoying its convenience and ease-of-use compared to traditional, in-store shopping. This spike in consumer interest in turn saw a rise in companies seeking to streamline their eCommerce operations, which has given Ocado Group the chance to grow into the market leader for online grocery fulfilment solutions.

The company's current focus is on strengthening its leading position and continuing to invest in new technology, which will be vital as it feels the effects of the overarching economic downturn. Regardless, Ocado Group continues to make a big impact in the sector, and has secured funds that secure its ability to pursue its growth plans into the future
