Who you are

  • 10 or more years of enterprise B2B business development experience, ideally within the insurance or software industry
  • Solid track record of leading, managing and growing a high performing sales team
  • Proven track-record for meeting and exceeding revenue targets and performance driven KPIs within a high pace startup or tech company
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and develop innovative partnership strategies that drive business growth
  • Partnerships development and execution experience, with a proven capability and passion to lead cross functional teams in the design, pursuit and successful execution of key strategic goals
  • Excellent deal negotiation, problem solving and commercial structuring skills
  • First class communication skills, able to present, negotiate and influence at C-level
  • Ability to think laterally and explore creative solutions in both deal negotiation and customer solution design
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of cross-functional teams (Incl. engineering, product and finance) to deliver high quality outcomes to timelines
  • A proactive bias to action, and driven to achieve results

What the job involves

  • As a Director, Strategic Business Development, you will own the sourcing, development and growth of key partnerships across multiple verticals and products globally
  • You will play an instrumental role in optimizing the business development strategy and deal execution
  • Ultimately, you will close deals that develop strong relationships that increases Roamly’s market share
  • To be successful in this role, you will create a deal pipeline through existing relationships and sourcing new contacts and have deep experience in structuring optimal commercial terms that meet Roamly’s growth goals
  • As the Strategic Business Development Director, you will leverage your network and expertise to offer insurance products via our Roamly platform
  • You will also have an active role in managing key relationships at partner organizations
  • Regular collaboration with stakeholders internally will be key in ensuring that with each deal the revenue and margin goals are attained
  • Identify, develop, structure and close complex partnership deals with target partner organizations that deliver enduring value to the business
  • Leverage existing connections to build and cultivate a deep and trusted network amongst influential decision makers within key target organizations
  • Identify and continually improve best practices for partnership identification, onboarding and implementations using specialist knowledge of the insurance industry and keeping up to date with new developments
  • Lead cross-functional teams to ensure pitches to prospective partners are delivered effectively to partners, with clarity on the product solution
  • Participate in the development and execution of marketing efforts including event/conference roadmap and strategic discussions to increase Roamly’s brand
  • Assist in the onboarding of new partners ensuring partner launch and timely delivery of solutions that meet or exceed client expectations

Our take

Outdoorsy is an online portal providing RVs and camper vans for hire on a peer-to-peer basis. The platform is attempting to do to RVs what Airbnb did to hotels: revolutionize the market using the sharing economy. Outdoorsy estimates that around 97% of recreational vehicles remain idle during the year, so it provides owners with a way to make some additional income from them when they are not in use.

In addition to its RV rental and outdoor travel marketplace, Outdoorsy also operates in the insurtech space. Its "Roamly" business is designed to provide digital insurance products for RV owners and travellers, tackling the problem with insurer contracts excluding commercial use, which could deter listings on the Outdoorsy platform. Travellers then benefit from renting vehicles with insurance included, simplifying their rental experience.

As holidayers turn away from more rigid hotel options and towards outdoor alternatives, Outdoorsy has delivered over 200,000 trips to consumers. Serving a range of demographics, and remaining well-reviewed, the company is in good position to grow into the future, capitalizing on its successes so far.

The company has launched its 'Oasis Fund' in a bid to capitalize on the expanding glamping market. As approximately 10.5 million American households went glamping in 022, the fund will empower listers, hosts, and entrepreneurs to embark on their next adventure.
