Company mission

To make money rewarding and credit empowering through products people understand and love.

Role

Who you are

  • Experience building and shipping native apps with React Native, whether as a side project or at work
  • Have strong underlying JavaScript/TypeScript OR Java/Kotlin OR Swift/ObjC
  • Care deeply about solving customer problems, instead of focusing on the specific technologies to do so
  • Thrive in environments of ambiguity and love setting your own direction

What the job involves

  • Build the native apps for a credit card, working with the rest of the team to identify the best elements of our tech stack
  • Work closely with the product and design teams to build the best experiences for our users
  • Own the entire development lifecycle, from defining stories to getting the changes into our customers hands
  • Create delightful customer experiences on both iOS and Android, from the moment they open the app
  • Work with the wider engineering team to influence how a challenger credit card is built from the ground up
  • Supporting the rest of the team in building beautiful landing pages to welcome customers into the Yonder experience

Application process

  • 1. Hiring manager call (30 mins): We'll have an initial call with you to find out more about you and tell you more about us
  • 2. Technical interview (60 mins): We'll deep dive into your technical experience, talk about projects you've worked on and work through designing a system on a whiteboard (virtually for now!)
  • 3. Behavioural interview (60 mins): We want to learn more about how you work, we'll ask your questions that relate against our principles
  • 4. Take home exercise: This is your time to shine, you can either send over an example of your proudest work or we can send you a small exercise to demonstrate your skills
  • 5. Offer. We promise to make a decision within 48 hours

Our take

Two of Yonder's founders moved to the UK from Australia and despite having a stable income and a mortgage back in Australia, struggled to access high-quality credit products. After realising this was the case for over 8.3M people in the UK, they wanted to make money rewarding and credit-empowering; thus, Yonder was born.

The company promises to offer a modern rewards credit card with no foreign exchange fees, worldwide travel insurance, and more. The team has significant experience in this space, having worked for multiple years at ClearScore, one of the UK's largest consumer credit marketplaces. By prioritising the customer, not the bank, Yonder offers a highly appealing alternative to traditional credit card options.

The company's partnership with Ophelos, a tech firm building fairer debt resolution for businesses, is another step in the direction of the customer. Further, the company has secured significant additional funding to expand into new verticals and launch in new UK cities. As over 30 million people use a credit card just in the UK, Yonder's market potential is huge.
