Company mission

To create reliable local carbon free energy at scale so that our local grids become 100% renewable.

Role

Who you are

  • You deliver:
  • We’re out to earn the trust of our future customers, and we’re doing that by demonstrating the real value in what we build. So, we all need to execute to completion
  • You’ll be enthusiastic about solving problems and delivering value in any challenge
  • You’re hungry, patient and persistant:
  • You will have some experience working with Python and its data science libraries
  • You can work with existing data and create new data sets through labelling and augmentation
  • You have a proven track record and understanding of the process in training models, measuring their accuracy and iterating on improvements
  • You can prioritise your own work, knowing what's important to deliver and execute on time
  • We don't need energy experience, but it's obviously a plus if you've worked with energy or solar arrays before
  • You learn and grow with the company:
  • We don’t have the answers to everything we need right now, but only by doing will we learn them. That applies throughout the company
  • You’ll be comfortable with what you do and don’t know; you’ll know how to ask for help and provide help in return. We’ll be supportive, and make sure you can be the best at what you do. We have access to a great network of data and engineering people and want to help you use that network to grow
  • You communicate:
  • As a remote-first company, much of our interaction is asynchronous. To fully deliver your ideas, passion and values you need to be an excellent communicator
  • Know when to get into the technical details, and when to summarise. Know when to highlight the exceptions and when to champion the wins. Know how to tell the story in your work

What the job involves

  • You’ll report to the VP Eng and collaborate closely with the entire company. At this stage and size, there’s truly only one team
  • Modelling solar potential in a building and simulating the behaviour of energy networks is core to what we are building. We need you to be persistent and patient enough to tune accurate models to answer these needs
  • These are not solved problems; you will work on novel solutions. But the data is available and ready for you to dive into. Some of the interesting data sets you will be working on:
  • Geospacial data
  • Satellite images
  • Real time solar generation and customer demand
  • Energy market financials
  • UK energy supply and grid imbalance

Our take

On a mission to create reliable local carbon free energy at scale, London-based InRange is an enterprise electricity provider, which has created a new C&I energy supply business model out of the built environment.

InRange has a unique and essential understanding that for leading energy buyers, governments and suppliers it is necessary to focus on hourly decarbonisation of local and regional electricity grids and so have shaped its model accordingly to suitably meet the needs of its customer base.

The company received early investment from some the world's leading energy Venture Capitalists including Lowercarbon Capital, Voyager and Octopus Ventures, financial capital and expert knowledge that will be instrumental in its inevitable growth.
