Company mission

To reinvent the way people live, with apartments available where, when, and on the terms they want, and to provide a launchpad to live globally, work remotely, and experience new adventures — for a month, a year, or longer.

Role

Who you are

  • Someone who has strong time-management and coordination skills
  • Problem solver, with ability to work in a fast-paced and "get the job done" culture
  • Enthusiasm to own a part in driving operational excellence
  • Detail-oriented
  • Self starter
  • Confident user of technology (email, slack, G suite)
  • Access to a reliable vehicle & driver’s license for roles based in certain markets (e.g., SF/Bay Area, Seattle, Los Angeles) with reimbursement for mileage
  • A positive, driven, upbeat and friendly personality
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Technical Writing Skills (i.e. ability to write out step-by-step instructions for Guests)

What the job involves

  • The role is primarily responsible for rehabbing apartments that are not up to our standard (ex: damage due to flooding, squatting, etc.) as well as revamping legacy apartments in the BG portfolio
  • The role will require you to work and negotiate with outside vendors and Property Management to get repairs completed, in addition to completing the furniture installation
  • The role may also require you to assist our Operations Team in preparing new units, ensuring that existing units are perfect for our guests, and handling any issues or emergencies that arise. These issues include but are not limited to handling guest lockouts, emergency relocations, as well as keeping Operations Managers informed of potential repairs and actions being taken
  • This position will require some weekend and evening shifts but will not exceed a total of 40 hours/week
  • This position requires a reliable method of transportation, as it involves commuting to and from various properties
  • Fully owning the renovation and revamp process of units due to unit age, fire, flood, or tenant damage. The goal is to turn the unit guest facing in the shortest time possible
  • Liaise between vendors and our Blueground finance team on detailing, documenting, and recouping costs
  • Work with our team of Operations Managers to ensure our properties are fully-equipped and move-in ready for our guests
  • "Be Blueground's "boots on the ground" to help resolve issues impacting our guests such as handling guest concerns, requests, maintenance matters/repairs and technology issues (e.g., supervising handyman/locksmith/plumber, managing deliveries, handling building maintenance/follow-up, resolving WIFI/TV issues, etc.)
  • Perform unit check-in & check-outs before and after every guest stay to ensure each apartment meets business + guest quality standards
  • Carry out Blueground homes walkthroughs to ensure all quality assurance criteria are met when it comes to post maintenance/service requests, interiors/furnishing specifications, and overall design and aesthetics
  • Showcase your knack for custom-centricity by being the main point of contact between our guests and the Customer Experience team
  • Balance workflow processes with independent on-the-go work most of the time, and desk-based tasks (e.g., email, slack, G-suite) the rest of the time

Our take

Blueground supplies apartments for medium to long-term stays, that it backs with on-the-ground support so clients can have peace of mind that any issues will be handled quickly and well. It operates thousands of properties in 20+ cities including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, Washington D.C., Seattle, Dubai, Istanbul, Paris, London, and Athens.

Taking clear inspiration from Airbnb, Blueground caters to the increasing demand for all medium and long-stay rentals - both from holidayers seeking more unique stays, and the growing nomadic workforce. Its focus on the renter experience - with additional services, such as regular housekeeping or maintenance, available through its app - are what makes the company stand out in the space.

Blueground has stated aims to have a presence in 50 cities around the world and a portfolio of more than 50,000 apartments by 2025, an ambitious goal that will rely heavily on its ability to scale its operationally-intensive business (due to the local support teams required). The recent acquisition of corporate housing specialist Travelers Haven will enable it to expand its US footprint, as it invests its latest funds into growth.
