Our take
The adoption of AI is ever-increasing, and all industries seek to benefit from these technologies. For the defense industry, the ability to have AI-assessments of combat environments will protect service members, reduce casualties, and improve the efficiency of operations, yet a lack of technical expertise in these departments risks the adoption of poor methods not tailored for military use. Modern Intelligence provides high-performance, defense-industry-specific AI systems, that can be deployed on existing infrastructure with minimal training.
Modern Intelligence was founded in 2020 with ambitions to deliver AI for all defense functions. The company has started in maritime sensor function – the detection of threats under, on or above water – in which current solutions require thousands of data samples to provide only limited recognition. Modern Intelligence’s AI models are low-data, with a focus on learning rather than memorizing, and deal with novel scenarios well. On top of this, the product is built for integration, being platform independent to avoid lock-in for clients.
Modern Intelligence’s AI has excited top professionals in defense technology, and its impressive preliminary funding will be used to deliver and test its solutions across military exercises. With this, the company is in a strong position to deliver on its aims to accelerate the adoption of AI in the defense industry.
