Our take

In recent decades, society has seen a near-universal shift towards mobile and wireless technology. San Diego-based wireless tech innovator Qualcomm has facilitated much of this change.

Since being founded in 1985, Qualcomm has become a dominant force in tech, manufacturing chips for billions of mobile devices worldwide. The company has successfully diversified by developing operating systems, graphics processors and much more. More recently they have made impressive inroads into the smart car market with Snapdragon. This tech giant is now valued at around $170 billion, indisputable evidence of their importance to the tech ecosystem.

Qualcomm’s smart car ventures have proven highly successful so far, and news of a partnership with Samsung and Google on a new mixed-reality platform shows that Qualcomm is still a leader of ambitious innovation and diversification in the world of tech.
