  • People make this organization, and as an Engineering Manager, it is your mission to cultivate and contribute to Anchorage’s culture, coach and mentor team members, help refine our roadmap, and provide continuous support with our recruiting efforts
  • A healthy outcome is a team growing, feeling challenged, fulfilled, and eager to tackle the next company goal
  • You will manage the engineering team for a young business line at Anchorage Digital, with tons of potential to grow
  • This is a strategic initiative for the company, with visibility across the organization
  • Refine the engineering roadmap, drive operational excellence, and create a technology strategy for your team
  • Showcase your expertise and judgment in tackling complex and ambiguous challenges and delivering scalable solutions
  • Focus on and prioritize the health, happiness, and personal/professional progression of every member of your team
  • You lead a team of Engineers and take responsibility for their quality of execution, timeliness of delivery, impact, and growth
  • Be a mentor and advisor, providing coaching and feedback that levels up all those on your team
  • Take ownership over the personal and professional growth of a single team
  • Work closely with Product Managers to define investment in our products, ensuring harmony between our product plans, the bandwidth of the team, the realities of the technical landscape, and your plans for the growth and structure of the team
  • Work with other engineering managers, product management, people/recruiting, and the rest of engineering to drive team growth, retention, and hiring moving forward
  • Have a material influence on not only what Anchorage builds but who builds it, taking ownership for the growth planning, recruiting and performance management of a team of Engineers

Our take

Anchorage is a crypto-native digital asset platform offering a raft of solutions that help companies leverage blockchain technologies. Their advanced security architecture facilitates streamlined access to the complex and fragmented digital asset space.

Financial backing for Anchorage has come from prestigious investors Visa and Andreessen Horowitz. Anchorage's broad offerings are set to be matched by plans to partner across a wide spread of neobanks, challenger & incumbent banks, and corporate treasurers. This would mean an impressive expansion of their already substantial domain of influence in a rapidly developing sector.

In early 2021, Anchorage secured a national trust charter from the OCC, making it the first-ever federally chartered digital asset bank. This is significant, as it provides a good barrier to entry for other companies looking to compete in this space, and gives legacy institutions the ability to offer digital asset access to their clients. Though it has raised considerable funding in the past, crypto instability and wider macroeconomic challenges forced Anchorage to cut 20% of its staff in March 2023. 2022 clampdowns on customer due dilligence internal controllers added to the pressure on Anchorage to streamline and refocus its efforts.
