Bird is led by a former Lyft and Uber executive, which has helped the company to scale effectively. Bird is now active in more than 450 cities worldwide, making it one of the biggest companies of its kind.

Bird’s main challenge has been overcoming fierce competition from other micromobility companies such as Lime and Spin. However, the company has hit a bit of a rough patch, exiting dozens of markets and receiving a low trading warning from the stock market. Before the company resumes its plans to expand its range of solutions, it is seeking a merger with Bird Canada, consolidating North American operations, and giving it secure footing to regain momentum.
