What the job involves
- The Sandboxes team is responsible for the products and features users need to gain confidence in their integration with Stripe
- We are responsible for building fully data-isolated environments, which will be the focal point of all integrations
- The team is also responsible for proposing, creating, and promoting new tools and testing APIs to programmatically create predictable sandboxes, populate them with useful synthetic data for testing, events recording and replay features for unit testing
- Build software services and platforms that will impact every Stripe user, whether they’re an end user, developer, or partner
- Create abstractions for product teams to easily decide where to store their data and how to enable testing of their products
- Implement testing experiences in the Stripe Dashboard
- Work closely with product managers and designers to expose a simple interface to users
- Design frameworks for data persistence across distributed systems
- Propose and build new tools from scratch
- Ensure our platforms are reliable, scalable, secure and extensible
- Shape future proof interfaces that are easy to build against
- Help drive sound technical decision making and lead technical conversations with other teams across Stripe
- Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack

Stripe, nowadays a FinTech giant, spent the first few years since its founding building up its payments business, which primarily consisted of providing an API to eCommerce businesses so that they could easily integrate a payments option in their apps or websites, where before there was none.
More recently, Stripe has started to accelerate its growth with a significantly larger range of financial services including cash advances and credit cards. They also plan to build incorporation services, fraud protection, and more, diversifying its revenue away from payments and differentiating itself from its competitors.
To further expand its position, the company is looking to triple its presence in Ireland, and extend its services to countries with vast customer potential, including Brazil and India. Its latest venture, coming atop significant new funds, is to partner with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT - a win-win collaboration that will monetize OpenAI’s flagship products and at the same time enhance Stripe with GPT-4, as it moves forwards with intentions to "build the payments foundation for tomorrow's AI economy."
