Role

Who you are

  • 8+ years of product management experience with a proven track record of driving business growth through product innovation, extension, and market expansion
  • Deep understanding of SaaS business models and support strategies, spanning from customer acquisition to late lifecycle engagement. You are adept at setting multi-year visions, roadmaps, and business plans to steer strategy and planning
  • Exceptional ability to simplify complex concepts and clearly articulate your results to partners and executives, particularly in terms of adoption, engagement, and key product metrics
  • Strong proficiency in data analytics, with experience using data to inform strategic decisions. You collaborate closely with data management teams to establish best practices in your product area
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor junior product managers, helping them refine their product management skills
  • Solid grasp of SDLC and the impact of the tech stack on your product
  • In-depth understanding of what makes a world-class user experience and how to integrate technology with design thinking to create and enable superior customer system designs

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of payroll, HRIS, and accounting software, especially within a SaaS platform context
  • Experience as a small business owner or in managing products specifically designed for small businesses
  • Proven track record of bringing major features to market quickly and iterating based on customer feedback
  • Experience working with business cases and P&L to drive impactful business outcomes
  • Previous experience advocating for Product-Led Growth (PLG), educating stakeholders and team members on best practices, and fostering a mindset shift within the organization
  • Bachelor’s degree or MBA in related field

  • You are passionate about tackling big challenges head on, delivering simply amazing experiences, and ready to back it up with results
  • Be a subject matter expert in your product domain, and a product area leader across the Product Design & Engineering (PDE) organization
  • Own and lead your product area mission, strategy and multi-year roadmap, and product metrics
  • Foster and build relationships with your technical leadership peers and stakeholders to drive alignment
  • Critically evaluate, shape, and create product management best practices across the PDE organization
  • Hold your team and Product, Design, and Engineering counterparts accountable to deliver outcomes with quality and efficiency, that take into consideration customer & usage data
  • Apply your deep understanding of business and customer metrics and embed data-driven decision making into your team’s product management processes
  • Navigate tough conversations with stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment towards business priorities
  • Effectively lead your PM team, ensuring continual improvements in their PM craft and career progression

The need for owners to manage their business digitally has accelerated, and this has changed how small business owners work with bookkeepers and accountants. FreshBooks has built a cloud-based accounting software platform designed to make things like invoicing, expenses, payments, payroll and financial reporting easier for SMBs, and has served more than 30 million people in over 160 countries.

In 2021, the company hired over 100 employees and entered the Latin America market after acquiring Mexico-based e-invoicing company Facturama, in an effort to expand its audience in Spanish-speaking markets. The company has also seen significant growth of new customers.

FreshBooks used its 2021 capital to rocket boost sales and marketing, research and development, and undertake additional strategic acquisitions. Despite a planned IPO, Freshbook faced the pressures of 2022 and 23's financial crisis and cut 10% of its staff in March 23 as part of a bid to reach profitability by 2025. It expanded its partnership with Stripe in 2024 with an embedded payment product that will help in its path to profitability.
