Role

Who you are

  • 8+ years in product marketing, with a strong preference for experience in corporate travel tech
  • Prior management experience and a track record of successfully leading teams
  • Strong communication, PowerPoint, and writing skills
  • Keen understanding of press positioning
  • Exceptional team player with effective problem-solving skills
  • Creative thinker who independently generates and executes on innovative ideas
  • Established ability to successfully drive projects with minimal guidance
  • Organizational skills to manage competing projects with tight deadlines effectively
  • Proven track record in crafting compelling positioning and thought leadership content
  • A major plus if you have a background in travel or travel tech, or B2B SaaS

What the job involves

  • We’re looking for a motivated and data-driven Product Marketing Director to drive Go-To-Market for our core Travel product, loved by more than 10,000 customers around the world
  • In this role, your job is to be an expert on our buyers, users, our product and our value proposition
  • As the connective tissue between our product, marketing and sales teams, you will define our travel market narrative, product positioning, messaging and target audiences
  • Ultimately, your job is to build and run a high-performing product marketing motion, focusing largely on three key areas:
  • (1) defining a narrative around our Travel product, (2) enabling our go-to-market teams to add value, and (3) expanding into new offerings or new verticals
  • Simply put, you will help us understand our customers and tell our story to them, working with PR, Demand, and/or Growth to reach them authentically and compellingly
  • Own our messaging and positioning for our core Travel product, and define our segment-level messaging
  • Own key product marketing initiatives, including development of messaging, enablement assets, competitive analysis, and large cross-functional and global product launches
  • Work with Brand to refine our Travel narrative/value story and create supporting assets that empower our field teams to tell our story with conviction and proactively address the competitive landscape
  • Lead continued efforts to define our target audiences and ideal customer profiles — what do they care about and what drives them to buy and renew
  • Mentor and work cross-functionally with a global team of high-performing PMMs
  • Build out our library of enablement assets, arming teams with tools that speed up sales cycles, drive bigger deals, and reliable retention rates
  • Ensure that our messaging and positioning are represented accurately across GTM activities, events, websites, pitch decks, and all enablement
  • Partner closely with the Product team, helping to shape the roadmap through competitive insight, product positioning, and execution of key launches that will accelerate our growth, drive user delight, and increase brand awareness with cutting-edge product launches
  • Be a product expert and evangelist both internally and externally, developing a deep understanding of market needs and trends, and how we should position ourselves
  • Collaborate with your partners on the marketing team to develop campaigns that carry product messages to market (e.g., webinars, digital, live events, videos) to generate pipeline and customer adoption

Our take

Navan (formerly known as TripActions) is operating in a crowded marketplace, betting against rivals with similar offerings of user interface personalisation technology. Even so, the company's growth has skyrocketed and it has attracted significant investor interest. Competitors cannot match Navan's cutting-edge, AI-driven services, as well as 24-hour customer support.

Since its founding in 2015 the company has seen significant growth in transactions and in active users. Having expanded from its core travel expense management product, it now offers a corporate card and general expenses management, underwriting its customers' short term business expenses with its own Liquid financial offering. Navan has a list of impressive clients, including Glassdoor, Zoom, and Shopify.

Moving forwards, the company is focused on gaining more reach, especially in Europe. As part of the expanded go-to-market strategy, it rebranded to Navan with a more people-centric design approach. It also combined its travel, corporate card and expense services into a single app which is now available to individual users rather than only through a corporate account. This will be key in bridging the gap between business travel and consumer apps.
