Company mission

To help companies to give their returns and overstock a second life. By doing so, they contribute to a circular economy and the reduction of co2 emission, one item at a time.

Role

Who you are

  • You are an analytical, proactive person with strong Excel skills. You quickly identify patterns in complex processes and know which levers to pull to solve problems
  • You have a positive attitude and thrive working independently. Challenges don't deter you; in fact, you approach them with enthusiasm and can easily motivate others
  • You hold a bachelor or university degree
  • Having 2-3 years of relevant work experience in a similar role
  • Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Dutch, German and/or French is a plus

What the job involves

  • As an Online Business Analyst, your key objective is to deliver insights and drive improvements on the performance of our sales engine
  • You'll do this by analyzing different types of data and initiating different projects taking our sales process to the next level
  • As an Online Business Analyst, you'll continuously be gathering and analyzing available data, such as our sales figures and lead times, to uncover insights that can enhance our performance. You'll leverage data-driven insights to initiate and lead projects aimed at ensuring a seamless and efficient operation
  • In your role as our online business analyst, you'll actively engage with other departments and colleagues to optimize the sales process from start to finish. For instance, you'll collaborate extensively with our IT & Business Intelligence department on enhancing our IT systems, algorithms, and pricing rules. You'll also liaise with the Operations team regarding warehouse improvements. In this capacity, you'll represent the Online Sales team within BuyBay in various strategic projects
  • Furthermore, you'll work closely with our Sales Director in negotiations and actively seek out new sales channels and commercial opportunities, directly contributing to our growth. This involves maintaining intensive communication with external stakeholders, such as sales and auction platforms. You'll serve as the primary point of contact and collaborate directly with them to address (ad hoc) issues during the startup phase
  • The Sales team comprises three departments: Online Sales, Customer Service, and Beluga Auctions, all prioritizing customer satisfaction.
  • This role is part of the Online Sales department
  • After returns are processed in our warehouse, they are listed on various online marketplaces such as eBay, Amazon, and Bol.com as "second chance" products.
  • The Online Sales team ensures these products find their way to satisfied customers by managing an optimal sales process and implementing the right pricing strategy to sell products quickly and at the appropriate value on these platforms.
  • If a product remains unsold after a few weeks, it is directed to one of our auction partners, ensuring every return gets a second chance at finding a new owner

Otta's take

Sam Franklin

CEO of Otta

Customer logistics, including returns management, can be difficult for large companies to effectively manage. It is still common practice for companies to destroy returned items and overstock as there is no great alternative.

BuyBay was created to bridge this gap, offering a full-service solution for businesses to better serve customers. The company handles & sorts products and resell them to new owners, for the best possible price. The company has quickly differentiated itself in the market through the development of its own algorithms, with clients now including bol.com, blokker, acer, fyf, and dpd.

BuyBay strongly believes in continual innovation and continues to invest into its return management system. In the future, the Amsterdam-based company looks to consolidate existing ties with organisations in the Netherlands and ultimately forge relationships with clients across Europe.
