Otta's take

CEO of Otta

The NHS is facing huge financial pressures. An area that's been targeted in recent years is the billions the NHS spends on sourcing temporary doctors, known as locums, largely via agencies which take large fees.

Lantum's business model has changed since launch. It was originally a marketplace which helped healthcare providers connect with vetted temporary staff when they found gaps in their shifts. It has since become a wider platform for NHS workforce management.

Their software helps healthcare organisations fill the maximum number of shifts, by enabling them to manage their own network of clinicians and introducing them to new clinicians in the area. In 2021 they supported over 3,000 healthcare organisations, saving the NHS over £30 million.

Having already introduced the service for smaller clinics, they now aim to introduce it to hospitals as well as expanding the service to all healthcare professionals – including nurses and receptionists.

Diversity & Inclusion at Lantum

Danielle Potton headshot

Danielle Potton (Talent Partner)

  • At Lantum we strive to establish and maintain a culture which champions diversity, equity and inclusion. Promoting a psychologically safe environment in which all employees can bring their whole, authentic selves to work.
  • Our DE&I strategy first published in September 2020 stated our 3 key goals: 1. To champion diversity, equality & inclusion at Lantum 2. To provide accessible education on DE&I to our team 3. To decide who we are and how we want to be seen as a company
  • To help facilitate this, our DE&I Taskforce hold monthly meetings in which we aim to: - Gain an understanding of the ‘as is’ picture in relation to DE&I. How are people feeling? - Design and drive initiatives to create a diverse and inclusive culture within Lantum - Provide a forum to discuss what we see happening both within and beyond Lantum and take action to influence whatever we can
  • Danielle says.... “I firmly believe that cultivating an open environment, where people feel valued, seen and at all times able to be their authentic selves, is the driving force behind any meaningful change. Through joining the DE&I taskforce, I’m hoping to help nurture that environment in Lantum and support the team in driving this change.”
