Company mission

To make the power of solar accessible to all UK households.

Role

Who you are

  • You have at least 3 years experience working in growth marketing teams, with a track record of impact
  • You understand the basics of referral mechanics, conversion optimization and SEO, and expertise in these channels is highly desirable
  • You are highly data-driven and have strong data skills, with a deep desire to understand users and improve their experience at every opportunity
  • You are curious in nature and always keen to understand the ‘why’ behind the ‘what’ and ‘how’
  • You are open to receiving and giving honest open feedback and keen to use this to improve yourself and your work
  • You are organised, accountable and driven - you’ll be self-motivated and not need (or want) to be micro-managed
  • You enjoy working on new projects and are comfortable maintaining multiple areas of focus
  • You don’t need to have experience in the world of solar energy, but we are looking for someone who’s mission driven and has a real desire to make a meaningful difference to people’s lives and the environment through innovative clean tech

What the job involves

  • Collecting and analysing data to understand users needs and behaviours
  • Designing and implementing growth strategies and tactics, with a focus on on referral marketing, organic and product lead growth
  • Using A/B testing and conversion optimization to enhance our website, engagement, user acquisition, and advocacy
  • Discovering, testing, and refining new growth channels and methods. This could be developing widgets or tools to help link building and conversion, or testing completely new marketing channels
  • Defining and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to refine growth initiatives and drive data-driven decisions
  • Partnering with other teams to improve our user experience end to end, aligning your efforts to company objectives and targets. This could be refining how and when we ask for customer reviews or working on ways to optimize sales operations
  • You’ll use a testing framework to learn what works and what doesn’t, improving our understanding over time
  • Exactly how this role develops is largely down to the candidate, their strengths and desires for career growth. We’re looking for someone who is keen to take on more ownership, and is comfortable managing and supporting more junior team members

Application process

  • Exploratory call with Director of Marketing to discuss your background and go through any initial questions (30 mins)
  • Take-home task to evaluate key skills for the role (2-3 hours). We’ve worked hard to keep it as short as possible to be respectful of your time. And if successful, a follow up call with Director of Marketing & Head of Growth to talk through the task and understand your approach (1 hour)
  • Culture & Fit Interview with the CEO to discuss your experiences and motivations for working at Sunsave, approaches to certain scenarios, working style and what you’ll bring to this role (45 mins)
  • References and informal coffee type chats with a few key members of our team, who you’d be working with closely

Sunsave, founded in 2022, is on a mission to make solar energy and battery storage accessible to the mass market by removing the upfront costs and providing a subscription service that takes care of everything - from installation to maintenance - so that more UK households can save on their energy bills.

The model is designed to remove the biggest barrier to installing rooftop solar and storage - the ~£10k typical upfront cost and long payback period - allowing customers to save on their energy bills from day one. This is wrapped into a hassle-free service, with installation, monitoring, and maintenance included, which also enables households to sell excess electricity and participate in the smart grid.

The green company has already attracted the attention of blue-chip VC funds such as Norrsken, the UK Department of Energy, and household name entrepreneurs including Michael Spencer and Stuart Rose, raising ~£11M in funding and growing to ~30 FTEs. Sunsave is the first company to bring the tied and tested solar subscription business model to the UK and in doing so, will build the next green unicorn.

Diversity & Inclusion at Sunsave

Juliet Mance headshot

Juliet Mance (Head of Sales)

  • One of our core values as a young start up is that there's strength in diversity.
  • We believe that a team with different perspectives, backgrounds and life- experiences will always outperform a homogenous one.
  • We believe in creating a team that actively celebrates and benefits from all types difference - including, race, gender, sexuality & neurodiversity.
  • We're committed to recruiting a team that doesn't look, feel and think the same way we do. And we have formal processes and measures in place to hold ourselves to account (at every level). This is to try and ensure that our values aren't just things written down on a Notion page somewhere (sadly many of us have experienced workplaces like that!), but are actually values that we live and strive to demonstrate daily.
  • Practical ways we show our commitment to building a diverse and inclusive team are:
  • Flexibility of working hours, location and benefits to ensure employment suits different circumstances
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Utilising software to test all job descriptions for unconscious bias
  • Recruitment processes that are inclusive of our wider team and include an objectively measured skills based assessment wherever appropriate
