Role

Who you are

  • Enrolled at a University in the Netherlands (for the entirety of your internship)
  • Studying a relevant degree for the internship
  • Available from October - February/March for 32 - 40 hours per week
  • Living within a 1-hour one-way commute from our Houthavens office (ideally)
  • Flexible, curious, open-to-learn, tech-savvy, open for a challenge... with a great sense of humour!
  • Fluent in English (other languages are a plus!)

What the job involves

  • As a Commercial Strategy Intern, you will be part of the Commercial strategy & merchandising team, helping both teams by running analysis to find impactful insights and to make business decisions which drive the growth and profitability of Otrium
  • Supporting strategic decision making in prioritising brands for marketing exposure based on KPI analysis
  • Support in commission calculations to enable a fast decision making and contribute to onboarding new partners
  • Collaborating with other departments to identify needs and create dashboard/sales tools to support management
  • Qualifying fashion brands as sales leads to support prioritisation for sales teams to onboard partners
  • Support with manual product placement across our top 3 domains covering our top 10 brands and top categories per gender (approx. 30 pages to be pinned each week per geo) we are currently limited to 15 pages each week for just the NL domain as work is manual
  • Supporting website search improvements to ensure customers find the product they’re looking for - across top 50 search queries for our top 3 domains
  • Cleaning datasets & selecting stock from our brand partners to achieve optimal results on our platform

Our take

Otrium is part of a growing movement to address the tons of waste created by the fashion industry due to unsold goods. Otrium gives brands an online direct-to-consumer outlet store with full control over pricing, merchandising and visibility.

Otrium offers brands a number of key advantages compared to the old ways of dealing with excess inventory such as brick-and-mortar retail outlets. It provides control over price, inventory and a technology platform that gives brands real time data and analytics on how the items they are offering are selling. The site also gives brands an easy way to sell online without the effort involved in creating their own website, and can provide analytics showing how to price excess inventory to achieve sell-through.

To date, Otrium has over 300 brand partnerships with both up-and-coming designers and luxury names, such as Karl Lagerfeld, Joseph, Anine Bing, Belstaff, Reiss, and ASICS, and more than 3 million shopping members. However, it had to shut down US operations to refocus on Europe in a 2024 profitability push.
