Who you are
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
- Typically 5 years proven experience in Mechanical/ Product Design/ Industrial Design environment
- Experience in the consumer goods household appliance space desirable
- Experience in plastic manufacturing processes desirable
- Experience of delivering real world products to market
- Uses Solidworks or Creo to a proficient level
- Identify, solve, implement and verify technical solutions autonomously as part of a team
- Can operate (with training) in the lab; building of prototypes, product testing in the lab, developing and reporting
- Flexible and collaborative - these are key to success at SharkNinja
- Positive attitude with an entrepreneurial nature
- Appreciation for electrical engineering, software and UX design helpful but not essential
What the job involves
- We are looking for Mechanical Engineers to help us create a new generation of innovative products across our Shark & Ninja ranges
- We thrive on designing great products that delight our customers
- Working as part of our Boston Headquarters, you will bring technical substance and inspiration to our creative efforts to deliver credible solution to the market
- Delivers design studies (independently and in teams) to solve technical or consumer issues found in the development of a product
- Communicate ideas quickly and effectively using a combination of sketching, CAD layouts, 3D models and working prototypes to evaluate potential solutions
- Takes direction on designs through conception, CAD execution, prototyping and verification, whilst consistently working at pace
- Applies sound engineering standards to deliver real solutions
- Communicates effectively and professionally with colleagues
- Supports other team members and encourages their efforts
- Collaborates seamlessly with our UK and China based Product Development teams to ensure that great ideas make it through

Consumer demand for new and better home appliances continues to grow. SharkNinja serves this demand by designing and manufacturing innovative home goods and devices. Specifically, it has a growing line of solutions that consist of Shark cleaning and home care products and Ninja kitchen appliances.
SharkNinja has been in operation since 1994, which is testament to the quality and popularity of its products. Since its initial launch in Canada, the company has expanded into the US and the UK. In 2017 SharkNinja was bought by CDH Private Equity for over $1.5 Billion, further proof of its impressive market value. Perhaps more evidence is that it brings in annual revenues of around $4B.
SharkNinja’s main challenge is facing down big-name competitors such as home appliance giant Dyson. In fact, through innovative design, it seized the market-leading spot in traditional vacuums from Dyson and is only second to iRobot in sales of robotic models. A 2023 IPO saw an extra $296 million in funding added to SharkNinja's pot and was followed by product launches in new sectors such as air conditioning and food cooling, indicating that the company is still full of new product ideas.
