Company mission

To provide answers for the self-driving industry’s greatest challenges.

Role

Who you are

  • Deep understanding of the Xtext Domain-Specific Language framework and Language Server Protocol extension development, alternatively experience in language specification and compiler design
  • Fluent in modern Java and Typescript, with experience in other languages, particularly Python
  • Any experience with modern cloud services infrastructures (AWS, GCP, Azure) or containerised application environments (Docker, Kubernetes) would be beneficial but not essential
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, CircleCI, Travis CI, or Jenkins, would also be beneficial

What the job involves

  • Our Platform provides a number of Domain-Specific Languages (DSLs) that enable our users to concisely encode their driving specification for verification within our platform. Our DSL Tooling Developers work to develop and maintain these DSLs as well as the core infrastructure needed to support that functionality
  • You will be working closely with all our other product teams in order to leverage our driving specification for the most efficient verification and validation of autonomous vehicles
  • As a full stack DSL tooling developer, day to day, you would be expected to: design large features, and work with other members of the team to implement them
  • Investigate and solve complex system issues and bugs. Provide code and design review for other team members
  • Help to develop and improve continuous deployment systems
  • You will contribute to maintaining high technical standards, e.g. overall architecture and design patterns, continuous build systems, coding standards, etc
  • You will work collaboratively with other teams across the company to coordinate development efforts and best practices

Otta's take

Sam Franklin headshot

Sam Franklin

CEO of Otta

Five develops software for self-driving vehicles in a B2B model, providing its software stack to other self-driving projects. The company has launched commuter trials on London streets as part of a research consortium named Streetwise with government backing, placing FiveAI at the forefront of driverless car technology in Europe.

The software company is aiming to build autonomy in complex urban environments without utilising dense 3D prior maps and localisation but instead using 'strong' AI to solve the challenge, resulting in a more scalable and flexible software.

Five has been acquired by Bosch (subject to approval by antitrust authorities) for an undisclosed amount. Bosch is a global leader in driving assistance technologies, with core technologies and vast data lakes that will be essential in bringing safe self-driving systems to market. Moving forward, Bosch and Five’s software engineering teams will be combined into one. Five's CEO is excited for Five to become part of Europe’s most powerful SAE Level 4 player and to be a part of Bosch’s future success.
