Who you are

  • The ideal candidate should be comfortable working as part of a team, while encouraging effective collaboration and engaging with senior executives at all levels both internally and within our partner ecosystem
  • 8+ years of experience in a related role, preferably in Big/Fin Tech, building successful cross functional relationships, and proven growth through partnerships
  • Deep experience in the foundational building blocks and programs outlined above
  • An energetic self-starter with proven commercial edge, a track record of delivering results and the ability to build long term relationships
  • Comfortable and excited by being responsible for commercial goals and creating a measurable impact for the business
  • Can balance strategic thinking with world-class execution (brilliant basics)
  • An excellent communicator and team player with strong leadership skills and technical understanding

What the job involves

  • We’re looking for an experienced and driven leader to shape our partner strategy, to design and evolve Adyen’s partner program, and to run scalable and strategic initiatives to drive revenue growth with partners
  • This is a senior multi-faceted role where you will be involved in building the foundational building blocks for the partner organization (partner program, commercial incentives portfolio, key partner operating rhymes, etc)
  • This role will sit on the global partnerships team
  • Build, launch, and iterate on foundational building blocks for the partner organization including our partner program and commercial incentives portfolio
  • Design and run revenue generating initiatives that scale with partners
  • Align with cross functional teams across the company on programmatic support offerings aimed at growing partners and ultimately improve merchant experience
  • Be commercially aware and able to make business decisions that support the wider commercial team
  • Provide strategic and consultative advice to influence the payments strategy of our partners
  • Expand our 1,000+ partner ecosystem to open up new business opportunities and sectors
  • Drive a consistent flow of new business opportunities (referrals) across our target markets
  • Create an inspiring and collaborative team environment with an open communication / feedback culture

Our take

Adyen has been one of the most successful businesses in Europe over the last decade. When it went public in 2018 at a valuation of €7bn, it raised over €1bn and its share price popped on the first day, resulting in a valuation of €14bn. Its valuation has continued to climb by the billions.

Adyen competes with large players like PayPal, as well as outsized startups like Stripe, to power payments and provide other infrastructure to conduct digital transactions. Disrupters in the field have been buoyed by a strong rise in eCommerce activity, where some or all of a transaction by a customer is made either online or by mobile.

Adyen has been one of the companies riding the wave by helping to reduce the friction between a company choosing to take payments online, and actually being able to do it. That can take multiple steps and agreements across numerous countries — Adyen’s pitch is that it essentially handles all of it in the backend as a service for its users. Notable partners have included Autocanteen, a touchless self-checkout solution for the hospitality industry, and BILL, a small business-focused fintech platform.
